there were some good classic games out there... I managed to play Techmo Bowl on line for free and win without being Oakland, San Francisco, or Miami.

Somebody should give me a medal

I wish you could download Mike Tyson's Punchout. I have the version with Mr Douche, but it is just not the same as fighting Iron Mike.

You guys can keep your fancy new video games. Give me the original "Legend of Zelda" any day of the week. Long before the internet, you had to learn the secrets through word-of-mouth, and eventually NINTENDO POWER magazine. Great stuff ...

This actually makes me think of something I read recently. Wasn't it amazing that even though there was no internet to look it up on every kid new how to fix a game by blowing in it.

I know this makes me a geek, but Game Informer has the original Zelda game listed as the #1 game of all time. Super Mario was #2.

Just played some old school Megaman 2 this morning. May just have the inspiration to go for a Mario 3 speed run again.

Okay so this thread inspired me. I broke down and got Super Mario Brothers, Sonic, Tecmo Bowl, Ice Hockey, and Double Dribble..........so far. Still got a shit-ton of Wii points and I'm going to get all the games my dad wouldn't buy me when I was a kid. #@%$er!

Finally got to level 4 today... they got this new cannon thing on the new Mario for Wii that lets you jump worlds... so I went from world 3 to world 6, then went back because I wanted to beat them in order

I've beaten Mega Man 2 five times this week, then downloaded the soundtrack for more listening.

In the grand scheme of music history, the finest composition ever done will be known as "Mega Man 2 - Dr. Wily's Castle - Levels 1 and 2".

I'm on world 7 on mario wii. I have 89 lives, and have only missed 9 star coins. I have opened every warp canon i have come across. I am a giant geek. If I lose to many lives between saves I will refuse to save and start over from the last save point.

Yes, The Legend of Zelda on NES, and A Link To The Past on SNES are quite possibly the 2 best games ever.

The original Metroid on NES was amazing as well.

FWIW, Zelda 2 on NES sucked.

I actually loved the NES' Zelda 2. I'd do the "second quest" (where you start with all the health and power you finished the game with) repeatedly to speed-run it. It was great fighting those early-game bosses and utterly decimating their life meter with one hit.....and killing them with the second.

I too loved Zelda 2 (although not as much as the original), in part because when I got it, it was impossible to find. My grandma went to practically every store in NYC and couldn't find it, wound up going up to upstate New York and dropping $100 on it (which back then was REALLY upsurd for a Nintendo game). That was a nice Christmas :)

Zelda 2 was a pain in the ass until you learned the downward thrust, then you could just bounce over everybody ...

Zelda 2 wasn't horrible in the sense that it was worse than other games, but compared to other Zelda games it wasn't up to par. Although, the having to fight the shadow Link was a great idea and fun fight. Overall the RPG feel of it (leveling, XP, etc) just made it less of an action/adventure RPG and more of a DnD type RPG. That's more the part I didn't like I guess.

I miss those old Nintendo games! Loved Zelda (1 and 2), Castlevania 2, even Dragon Warrior was a fun time. Mike Tyson's Punchout was my first game, will never forget 007 373 5963 ...
