I like the mid-90's version of NASCAR racing.

We warped it into a game called "SMASHCAR" - after putting your car into "bulletproof" mode, we'd run the course backward and try to see how quickly could permanently take out the other 42 cars in the field by wreckin' 'em. Atlanta was the best track for this - our record was 11 minutes and twelve seconds.

The key to a good run was making sure you inflicted maximum damage on the first lap when everyone was running in a single pack - if you were careful, you could take out 11 or 12 cars in the first impact.

Can't do this with the modern versions!

I'm pretty sure causing massive wrecks is the whole point of NASCAR games. The older ones had this aspect down pat.

Base Wars. It was baseball with robots. But if you got thrown out, you just killed the first/second/etc baseman. Great for teaching sportsmanship to young children.
