I don't make the rules jmog; I just follow them.
There actually IS solid proof to what you claim, and to what he is asking you to refute. Just look it up.

I understand actual logical discussions aren't your forte. However, you claimed you interpreted the Bible that way. I asked for exactly what verses you interpreted that way. So the burden of "proof" is on you.

I mean, there's a bunch of people who use their apparent Christianity to say that you shouldn't have sex outside of marriage and some take it further to say no sex except to have children. That would clearly be a stance against using contraceptives.

I just asked for what verses, not for someone's opinion on someone else's belief.

What particular verses in the Bible did he 'interpret' to mean 'don't use condoms'.

Not that hard to understand. I am fully aware of what certain denominations (specifically Catholic) believe, I just asked for what verses since HE said he interpreted it that way.

You can go ahead and pick any bible verse and I can interpret it as needed. For example Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth". In this case, god did not create birth control and therefore it must have been created by the devil.

This is religion we are talking about here. Please understand the context and then laugh at yourself for dedicating your whole life to an unproven myth. Logic and reason do not win in a world in which logic and reason are irrelevant. The great thing about religion, since it is all made up, is your can say or do whatever you want and then call it "faith" and its 100% right.

Please prove my faith wrong jmog.

Man, I'm not even religious, but I'd still never call someone's deity of choice a retard. That's harsh, ETB...that's harsh...

A logical person would use historical records, word etymology, logical reasoning on what authors intended, etc to interpret historical writings such as the Bible.

You, however, just use ad absurdum, which is a logical fallacy.

I'd love to see the historical record of a man turning water into wine or the one guy who lived in a whale. I mean come on jmog, you seriously believe this stuff? LOL

Since you are having trouble following the dialogue I will spell it out for you.

The post you quoted was talking about interpretations of Bible verses, since I listed historical records, word etymology, and logical reasoning of what the authors intended it is quite obvious I was talking about historical records of the transcripts/ancient texts (i.e. getting what was originally written down, not a translation of a translation).

I was not talking about historical records of supposed supernatural events. A 3rd grader could have understood my context but somehow you missed it.

No I get it perfectly fine. The bible isn't a complete book; it is up to the user to determine, depending on their agenda, whether the event happened or didn't happen. This seems like a great foundation to base my entire life philosophy on.

Based on this post it is quite obvious you don't get it. However, I am done feeding the troll.
