Author loses credibility with Chicago deep dish pizza as number one. Deep dish sucks, too doughy and never gets cooked properly.

Correct. For someone who had a hard-on against the evils of Cincinnati-style chili, it's interesting that the author puts Chicago deep dish pizza at the top of his list even though it's basically the same type of pasty goo as Skyline chili.

^^^

This was the cause of many altercations (some nearly physical) back in college. We had two guys from Chicagoland that swore by Chicago "pizza" - the rest of us just swore at it.

It isn't pizza, it is a casserole. And for the most part it is an undone casserole. Back in the day I could eat and drink stuff that would make a billy goat puke, but the first time I tried Chicago "pizza" I got indigestion because the dough wasn't cooked. It was like a party in my mouth and everyone was throwing up cheese, tomato sauce and uncooked meat in it.

Albert obviously got his ass kicked in a Skyline parking lot at 2:00 am at some point.

That guy can fuck right off. I don't eat it on spaghetti but Skyline coneys are glorious.

It sounds an awful lot like he went to a Skyline and was expecting a bowl of chili, and instead got a bowl of sauce, which is what Cincinnati-style chili is.

This makes him a joke of a food critic, and a moron.

I love Cincy chili. I also really enjoy Chicago pizza.

He's wrong on Kentucky's food though...it's gotta be a Hot Brown. I lived in the heart of Kentucky for 6 years and still have close ties there, no one ever said anything like "burgoo." The Kentucky dish is a Hot Brown with an Ale-8-One.

What are those?

Actually I believe I had them once. Decent dumpling.

I believe they might be good in Cincinnati Chili.

One could go with ice cream, right? Jeni's. Velvet.

Or what about "buckeyes?"

Potato chips? Mike-sells. Conn's. Grippo's. Ballreich's. Shearer's. Jones'. Maybe some others...

Pierogis aren't really an Ohio thing. It's a Polish thing. Sorta like lutefisk is...only for Norwegians (which is odd that North Dakota had lutefisk instead of Minnesota). Outside of a bit of Cleveland, many people don't know pierogis.

For Ohio i'd throw in German potato salad. It might not be unique to Ohio but it is still very popular and not easy to find in other regions.

Pizza isn't a chicago thing either. It's an italian thing... If cincy chilli is the best Ohio can come up with, then thats sad.
