New Single by Eminem. This is the Eminem I miss. I don't listen to much rap anymore but he absolutely murders this song and proves he is a rap god.

I have a few thoughts..

- the beat is just okay, but not terrible like everyone is making it out to be

- I just feel like he is trying WAY too hard to be Slim Shady again.

- His pop culture references were cool 15 years ago.. I mean come on, Monica Lewinsky and Columbine?


--- With that said.. his flow cannot be touched and this song goes hard. 4:25-4:40 good god. The last line.. "Why be a King when you can be a God"... shot at Kendrick?

To add on to my previous post.. dude is almost 41 years old.. it's not a horrible thing to think that Marshall Mtthers/Eminem exist but Slim Shady doesn't anymore. It feels forced, like he sat down and said "Okay, what would I write if I was in that Slim mind set".

I've heard rumors that he's doing Marshall Mathers LP2, then a final album. I would love to see him release it as Marshall Mathers, not as Eminem, and just fucking destroy everyone then walk away.

Trying too hard to be Slim Shady? Get the fuck out of here. He's the same person. He just threw out a couple of bad albums. Like any musical artist, he's trying to go back to what was most successful. There's nothing wrong with that.

Rap God is incredible. The M of old. I highly disagree with anyone who thinks Eminem's career stopped in 2002. Not even close. His flow has only gotten smoother with age. Even his worst albums were better than almost anything else being put out in the last decade. There's a reason the man sold more albums than any other recording artist in the world during that span, edging out both Michael Jackson and The Beatles. In the world.

I've enjoyed every album he has ever put out, all of them were dope imo. Some of the subject material wasn't the greatest but the skill level and lyricism was still miles better than anyone else.

Agreed. I wore the hell out of Relapse, and even Eminem has said that he hated that album. It was sick. The song he did about being a serial killer and murdering Brittany Spears and Lindsay Lohan -- Same Song and Dance -- is one of my favorite tracks of his, ever. And it appeared on, what critics refer to as anyway, Eminem's worst album. The dude could rap a Hilary Duff song and it would win awards.

75% of rap fans don't understand the breakdown of songs and raps.. if that makes sense. Em is unreal.

Most rappers haven't used that many deliveries in their ENTIRE careers, they have one or two. He uses multiple per song, hell sometimes multiple per verse.

Eminem Show, Encore and Recovery were all outstanding, relapse was the only album that wasn't outstanding imo and it was still better than 99% of hip hop and it had quite a few tracks that I loved. His skill level didn't fall off at all, if anything he's way better than he ever has been imo.

Eminem is a chameleon on the mic. The only other rapper off the top of my head that is even in the same league as Em in terms of versatility and ability to adapt to any type of beat, flow or rhyme structure is -- maybe -- Andre 3000.

I think The Notorious B.I.G., had he lived longer, had the potential to become this variety of artist. On "Notorious Thugs," Biggie not only replicated perfectly Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's tip-of-the-tongue delivery, but he sounded like the 6th thug. A damn shame he died before reaching his peak.
