Those teachers that I had it's Mr /Mrs ........ some we have become friends with an we use first name now.
Annnnnnd.......another time that my pal comes through with my exact feelings on the matter.

Thirty six year retiree from the public school system here.

I will tell you all that when a former student addresses me by my first name......I don't particularly care for it.

IF I get to know them better in their adult life, then that changes.

Former student = not a close friend of mine = Mr.

If they are a coach....I call address them as coach, especially the ones that coached me.

Do you expect all adults you meet to address you as Mr. *******? Why should former students? Guess I just don't see the big deal.

Maybe. But as I said, I don't particularly care for it. It doesn't "piss me off".

Mr./Mrs. and coach. The only way I've ever addressed them as. No reason to change it.

I work with a couple of my ex teachers, and I call them by first name but when I left school it was Mr. or Mrs. Coaches are coach as well.

I coached my sons 4th grade football team and a retired coach whos grandson plays on the team helped me. The kids wanted to keep calling me by my first name and I battled that all year to just call me coach! They started calling the other guy by his first name and it took everything he had to keep from hollering at them to call him coach as well. 10 weeks and they finally got there!

I call my students miss or mr and their last name in class as well.

If it's a teacher or a present coach, I say Mr./Mrs.

The guys that coached me in high school are now good friends that I can call Al and Chuck away from the field, but it's always Coach if we are around the field or around kids.

I call all my coaches "Coach".

I don't care about any of my former teachers. I am smarter than all of them and they probably hated having me in class.
