You just don't pull scherzer there. Leyland smh
I'm waiting for the day the starter gets pulled and simply refuses to leave (might be John Lackey before the playoffs end)

Best pitch of Scherzer's life, considering the high stakes situation, looks like it will be the final one of the season! What a disappointment it must be for him. I always say the biggest unfairness in the officiating are the ball/strike calls which are critical to how the games play out. Bring on electronically called balls and strikes! It is just too hard for humans to see it properly.

He's one intense son of a fun and his last start I thought he and Farrell were going to wrestle. Lackey is one of my least favorite players but I love his fire, passion and wanting the fuckin ball when it matters most.

My Facebook is flooded with shit about how the Tigers choked.

I know now we make fun of the comment...but seriously, there is a reason they had the 3rd best record. Oakland AND Boston were better. It's a win that they got to the ALCS. That's the type of shit that annoys people. This team simple wasn't the best, no matter what the delusional fans wanted to believe. They were 3rd best in the AL alone...

Boston was just a complete team and Detroit was not, simple as that. Sure their offense COULD have made up for defensive holes and a weak bullpen but it didn't, Fielder was especially abysmal

That call was historically bad.....

Umps meeting to decide how the fuck to change it without Matheny going all George Brett pine tar on them.

This reminds me of the Reds vs Phillies series and the Detroit World Series where their pitchers threw the ball away about 12 times in losing to the Cardinals

Karma indeed, and Matheny is showing his lack of experience in handling a pitching staff.

Back to the horrible call in the first, though. Clearly the ump blew it, but by waiting for Farrell to come out and complain they opened a big time can of worms on any other future close calls in this Series. They should have immediately called a conference before Farrell came out of the dugout. By letting him vent they gave the impression that he caused the conference. Both managers should use this as an opportunity to request a conference on all close plays. The precedent has been set and Hirschbeck is to blame.
