Then, if you win a division, you SHOULD get a team who had to play a play in game, and, possibly, use up their #1 starter.

MLB had an issue and it was the Division Champs were not being rewarded nearly enough. I love it this way. Really makes the regular season champions mean a lot more.
By already handicapping the worst team in the playoffs? In that case, just eliminate the wildcard and go back to the pre-wildcard playoffs. I'd rather watch good baseball than watch teams get beat up on.

I pretty much agree with this. Not only this though...the wild card goes up against the division champ with the best record, has to start on the road, and never has home field advantage (till the WS). Why have a wild card at all if you are going to stack the deck so much against them.

wedge: thanks for the info on 'ties'....high likelyhood that we are going to get one...this race will go to the last day.

They may not be scoring runs, but the pitching has been the best in the AL over quite a long span. I like our chances of earning one of the WC spots and winning a play in game. The schedule is really in our favor.

I would much rather go into the postseason with hot pitching than hot bats. Pitching and timely hitting win in playoffs. Rarely do teams slug their way through the playoffs.

With that said and I don't want to get ahead of ourselves but it is crucial that the play in game be in Cleveland. Such a better team at home as opposed to on the road.

Not sure how many were there but the place had a carnival atmosphere tonite....lots of people in the team shop and at the souvenir stands buying Tribe gear. You had to wait in line at the concession stands and to go to the restrooms ;)

Swishers's fireworks nite was awesome....all set to Ohio themed music, while video highlights of the season ran on the scoreboard.

Playoff tickets for the wild card play-in game and the 2 possible games of the ALDS go on sale online to the general public Monday.

Nice to see Francona manage the pitchers with a tighter leash. Pulling Mac yesterday after a lead off walk in the 6th was the right thing to do. Mac is a 5 inning pitcher. Tonight he plugged in Smitty in the 9th with a 4 run lead and heated
Perez up at the first sign of trouble.

Can;t let any of these squibb games slip away.

This was my criticism of Tito earlier in the year, and imo, it paid off last night.

KC hit a walk-off grand slam off the mexicutioner.

I think 4-2 gets the Tribe in. 3-3 might result in a playoff to get into the playoff.

It seems strange to be rooting for the Royals when they have owned us.

Oh well, whatever it takes.

It's September 22 and play-offs are looking to be a real deal.
