I'm looking forward to some better competition after this weekends beatdown. After that...3 out of the next 4 games are primetime.

Combine this awful schedule with the fact that Ohio State's defense has looked horrendous against three bad teams, and I'm already to the point where a one-loss SEC or Pac-12 team deserves to be in the BCS title game over an undefeated Ohio State.
The Buckeyes just aren't going to have the chops to justify a title game appearance.

I'm telling ya, if the Buckeyes go unbeaten and there are undefeated teams in both the PAC-12 and SEC, no way Ohio State gets a NC bid.

I probably agree with you. But what was it, 7(?) new starters on defense has be taken into account. Talent is there. Its outrageous to write the defense off when they have played all but 3 games together. OMG they let SDSU score 7 and Buffalo score a whole 13! Let cal score 34 at home, but they scored 28 last year in the shoe. God, they sucked last year as well. Ranked 34th in team defense. Better than Oregon, K State, A&M, Clemson, and South Carolina..all of who were contenders last year.believer;1502496 wrote:

Blah blah blah about the OSU defense. Cal is a legit offense, and OSU gave up 20 whole points in the first two games. The defense will be just fine.

Fortunately there isn't much to test the Buckeye defense this year. Northwestern? Wisconsin? Penn State? Michigan?se-alum;1502505 wrote:Blah blah blah about the OSU defense. Cal is a legit offense, and OSU gave up 20 whole points in the first two games. The defense will be just fine.
Even though the once-mighty B1G is still struggling, I'm still not 100% optimistic Ohio State will run the tables again this season. And even if they do I don't think back-to-back undefeated seasons will impress the BCS voters enough to give the Buckeyes a berth in the national championship IF there are undefeated teams available out of the SEC and PAC-10 conferences. Just isn't gonna happen boys.
Hell, a 1 loss SEC champion will probably get the nod over the Buckeyes if the PAC-10 can cough-up an undefeated conference champ.
The only way Ohio State will play in the NC this season is to go 13-0 and hope all the top teams in the PAC-10 have at least one loss.
Guys I'm not liking this situation anymore than you. I would LOVE to see Ohio State play in the NC and actually pull off a victory, but like it or not Ohio State does not control its own destiny this year. The Buckeyes MUST go undefeated and hope for some help.
If not, Buckeye faithful will have to "settle" for a Rose Bowl berth against the PAC-10 runner-up
Then, assuming Ohio State is victorious in the Rose Bowl there will be plenty of tears in our beers while a Buckeye team that just went through 2 back-to-back undefeated seasons has to sit on the sidelines with the rest of us and watch the PAC-10 champ play in vain to beat the inevitable national champ out of the SEC.
Even the most hardcore Buckeye fan knows this to true deep down in their scarlet and grey hearts.

I'm sick of hearing people whine about "not enough pressure, this D-Line isn't that good, not enough pressure". Well OSU has played 3 teams that use quick passes and lots of 3 step drops in order to avoid the pass rush, and OSU currently sits at 7 sacks, 2.33 per game, which is 9th most in the NCAA (9th most by amount, not ranking)

No way a team that has won 25 in a row is kept out of the NC game

And believer please, shut the fuck up.
If anyone thinks there's going to be multiple undefeated teams this year please look at the last couple years. It's not happening. OSU goes undefeated they're in the BCSNCG.

Reading back through the thread, I see people calling Guiton a better passer. I have to disagree. Guiton lacks the arm strength and ability to go through his progressions on mid range routes. About half of the OSU passing plays are missing when Guiton is in the game. His deep ball looks so nice because his lack of arm strength puts a real nice touch on the ball.

I wonder if its a coincidence that Urbz/Herman have had Guiton pass the ball nearly 3x more than Braxton has this season when they have played roughly the same amount of time (Guiton probably a quarter more).LJ;1502861 wrote:Reading back through the thread, I see people calling Guiton a better passer. Kenny G has played 9 quarters and thrown the ball 61 times
Braxton 8 passes per quarter
Guiton 6.7 passes per quarter
Also the game plan against Cal was to go over the top due to the speed advantage OSU had on Call and the fact how they were stacking the box, daring OSU to throw long.

Not sure I'm buying the lack of arm strength with Guiton. That 2nd TD against Cal was 60 yards in the air, and right on the money. He could probably get another 5 or 10 yards if he was just heaving it.LJ;1502861 wrote:Reading back through the thread, I see people calling Guiton a better passer. I have to disagree. The coaches and all the analysts talk about him not having as strong of an arm as Miller.se-alum;1502942 wrote:Not sure I'm buying the lack of arm strength with Guiton. A good Ross Fulton breakdown from 11W
From there, Meyer and Herman built a game plan that utilized Guiton's strengths while not asking him to do things beyond his capacity. Guiton's gaudy passing numbers belie that the Buckeye coaching staff kept the passing game fairly basic. To oversimplify, Ohio State threw vertical routes, all-curl, wide receiver screens and bootlegs. Guiton was not often asked to make the variety of mid-range throws utilized with Miller, both because he does not have the arm strength for certain routes and does not seem as adapt at reading progressions. Guiton throws a very nice deep ball, however, where he can put air under the football.
