I'm gonna sound like con_alma, but if they make the playoffs, they deserve to be in the playoffs. It's not like they would make it with a losing or .500 record. Cleveland is 32-46 against "playoff" teams.
Boston 1-6
Detroit 4-15
Oakland 5-2 (Which they beat when Oakland was struggling early)
Texas 5-1
Tampa 2-4
Baltimore 4-3
New York 1-6
Kansas City 10-9
Kansas City is 38-37 against "playoff" teams.
Boston 5-2
Baltimore 4-3
Cleveland 9-10
Detroit 10-9
New York 2-5
Oakland 1-5

My point is at least KC would have a chance to advance to the ALCS. The Tribe flat out doesn't.
