If the government/politicians had zero involvement from the beginning and it was strictly just scientists, would the reaction be the same?

I don't necessarily agree with man being the sole or even the main cause of climate change but I don't think it is bad to take care of the environment or develop alternate energy resources. As long as the government isn't dictating or leading the way.

I'd agree with that.

The problem - as always - is the idiots on the right wing and left wing edges have hijacked the topic for small minded political gain. Whatever reason the earth is warming, it still needs to be addressed and planned for. On top of that, continuous improvement to environmental practices makes us good stewards of the earth.

Not a bad post, but let's be frank, it is the leftists who hijacked the topic and are thrusting their change agenda on the rest of us.

They have. As well as the rightists who have turned it into a "conspiracy" that involves unpatriotic principles. Both sides hog the spotlight whenever it comes up screaming about the evil "Man" destroying earth for a profit, OR the communists who are using the topic as a backhanded way to create a New World Order. Meanwhile sea levels are rising. Motives are being debated instead of action taken.

Based on what? It's certainly not based on scientific research or rational thought.

Dont even bother sending me some half brained un peer reviewed scientific study. I will save you some time with this, climate change is real and humans are responsible for it. 98% of ALL scientists agree on this. Stop being a stubborn moron, and do some research. Get with the program. I've read your posts on here for long enough to know you possess the mental capability to understand this. Just do some research please.

I do believe that we have had an affect on the planet. Does the earth go in cycles naturally? The obvious answer is yes. I do not deny climate change. Maybe the second part of my statement is incorrect about being the main contributor. Did we add or multiply a natural change? Probably.

I am 100% behind taking care of the planet and also creating alternate energy sources even if there was absolutely no climate change.

That in and of itself is pretty telling. Politicians thrive on turning trivial bullshit into wedge issues. As dysfunctional as Washington is, when there is a REAL crisis they move pretty decisively and swiftly.

The seas aren't going to rise 10 feet overnight. Technology is evolving and adapting far faster than any climate change, real or imagined. We will (probably already are) be more than capable of adapting when we actually, you know, have to. Even if, all else failing, that means moving our coastlines inland a few hundred miles.

Super realistic and a great solution. Glad we have a backup plan!

As opposed to tryng to stop the Earth's natural warming cycle? Yes, much more realistic.

Or maybe we CAN cool the earth by creating giant super air conditioners....but damn those CFC's are going to create other problems for us.

I'm sure when the Sahara was transforming from fertile farmland to desert that many millions of rain dances were performed...until eventually the natives just said fuck it and moved.

True. It's unfortunate all humans haven't grown out of the "the mythical man in the sky will take care of it" solution to critical thinking.

False. Do your own research instead of what MSNBC tells you.

I have been down this road on the old huddle and OC before, do a search you will find it. I am not going to go through it all again.

You made the original claim, if you want to put out the evidence to back yourself up, then feel free. The burden of proof is on you since you made the claim.

If you want to actually learn something, especially how statistics are completely wrong or distorted, yet still used as input data in most of the models used by the radical left, then spend some time here:

I thought the debate was whether climate change was a result of humans.

You have to understand QQuaker's style of politard posting. Post anything that disagrees with the ideals he's been force-fed, he'll scream that they're biased liberal junk. And then he'll post something even more slanted the other way to...uh...prove a point...or something, I guess.
