Not anymore. It's a misconception that phone batteries have a "memory" and that if you charge it when the phone is at, say, 50% that the phone will only charge up to 50% capacity after time.

With the new technologies, you can charge your phone multiple times a day...at any discharge level...and it shouldn't affect the life of your battery.

Wonder how this will affect Apple? Probably won't do a thing because it's Apple...and people will think it's a revolutionary thing.
The fingerprint info is stored inside the A7, deep in some chip sub-section. Not stored anywhere on Apple's servers.

It feels like Apple has all but given up on innovating.

Just like on the Motorola Atrix. That did not stop people from freaking out that the government or Google or anyone else was getting that information and compiling it. It was literally the exact same thing as what Apple just announced: an easier way to unlock your phone so you didn't have to put in a long password or PIN number. But people freaked out about it and hated it...that's not the case now. Just interesting.

This one is only around a year old, if that...had it replaced under warranty.

I think part of the problem is spotty service, constantly searching for a tower drains it.

I could be way off, but I believe Apple has something that detects when your battery is full and cuts off charging.

Something different. Do something drastic. Give away music. Give the OS an entirely different look. Anything.

So make a change just for the sake of making a change? Makes sense. /sarcasm

Also they're releasing their new OS which is supposed to be quite different.

Their new OS is a bunch of things they flat out copied from Android.

A 64-bit cpu in a phone isn't going to do a whole hell of a lot.

Not right now anyway. Phones don't pack enough RAM to show a difference.

But isn't that innovating? I argue it is. Forward thinking, my friend.

Not really. ARM released a 64 bit chip last year, so it was on the horizon already.

Hope this helps.

I do think they're the first to drop one in a phone though.

What would be a new innovation you would like to see? I honestly can't think where they'd go next.

Cell phones can crash airplanes and blow up gas stations, too.

I believe they license most of the architecture from ARM, just like Qualcomm, Samsung, and others. They build their own GPU and other additions to the core chip or they can use the ARM GPU. I wonder why the switch to 64-bit at this time. It obviously isn't because of RAM addressing limitations of the current memory size.

How about a phone that wakes up when you say a keyword? Or one that knows to automatically turn on bluetooth when you get in your car? Simple things like that would be huge time savers.

Motorola got close with the first one on the Moto X, but I still have to setup a NFC tag and tap my phone to achieve the latter.

Speaking of, kinda sucks that the 5S won't have NFC.

Why do you have to tap your phone or setup an NFC tag? Especially with the Moto X, you should never have to turn off Bluetooth because of that X8 system. As soon as you get in your car, and turn the BT headset (or whatever on), it would automatically connect.

I do like the WebOS like app switcher in iOS7. I always thought that was a nice way of implementing the feature.
