Pretty good opening episode.

Although not much happened (aside from Richard taking out 3 more guys - don't know who they were or why, really).

Be interesting to see how this season goes. Appears there is peace with NY. I have a feeling this season might be the rise of Al Capone.

I just watched it. Am excited to see Ron Livingston joining the show.

Agreed, although watching Nucky's transformation has been pretty compelling.

But no doubt in my mind they set-up that this season IS the rise of Al Capone.

I believe there is actually some chronological trace of real history. Not sure what year they are in or when Al Capone actually becomes Chicago's premier gangster. But it may seem forced, as I'm wondering how they do Al Capone in Chicago with the story centering on AC in New Jersey.

By the way, that whole scene with Pursely was brilliant and powerful. Absolutely superb acting - and he did it all without saying a word (the part I'm specifically referring to where his facial expression perfectly showed the combination of fear, rage, contempt, disgust and inferiority)

Worthy of an emmy, and oddly relevant to today.

Was hoping they found the wife. Nice rack getting wasted

I have read that we will see the rise of "Capon" this season. We will also see Harlem come into play.

That was laid out. So was the CaponE story line. So you seem to read correctly

That was a great 2nd episode. Dr. Narciss (sp?) is going to be great this year.

Yup. Need someone to fill Gyp's role.

I'm still watching, but I feel like the show has lost some of it's flair that it had. The story had to develop and go somewhere, but Nucky doesn't seem like he's the "main character" anymore.

Because he's not. Last season it was Gyp's show. This season, I think it's going to be Capone and Narcisse's show. Nucky is off to Florida.

This season has been fantastic so far because we haven't seen Margaret yet.

She's still 2nd billed behind Steve Buscemi in the opening credits, so unfortunately we may see her this season.

He's a great contrast to Chalkie, and also kind of a mirror image of Nucky. Ruthless AND smart - don't think there's another character like him on the show.

And quite the middle finger to Nucky there, dumping the body at his development.

I thought the exact same thing. Didn't really see any of it coming (well, kind of figured they were going to have to sell out the roommate). And then the ending. Then you realize what a "trainwreck" (from a character perspective) the entire episode was.

Just make like quadruply sure that we aren't romanticizing these guys too much. Brutally dark is almost an understatement.

I saw the ending coming as soon as he ratted him out. I thought he was either going to do what he did or hop on a ship for home.

Just a dark episode all around. 19 year old kid having to put his roommate/friend in jail for the rest of his life for something he did himself. Jimmy's mom having to scour the town for heroin. German guy's scenes in that room, then him jumping out of the window. Frank's death and Capone's reactions.

Mercy

Good thing I didn't read this thread this morning, otherwise everything would've been ruined for me thanks to the previous post.

I thought this season started slow until this one. Solid all-around.

If you don't want spoilers, don't come to a thread that discusses spoilers after episodes.

Not sure I agree. Although they have been following far too many plots this season. Fortunately it looks like they wrapped-up at least a couple of those last night.

Honestly I could have done without the whole butler story arc. And I wish they'd finally just kill Jimmy's mom.

Thought this was a pretty good episode. Was kind of surprised the servant offed himself. Figured he would have let Nucky know what went down.

I hate the new prohi and the doctor crack dealer this season.

the thread contained little to no information about the content of the show or its story lines until you posted a synopsis this morning.

edit: actually, gut is the guilty party not you.

both of you can gfy though.
