Not sure what to think of this. It's a noble act to confess, publicly. However, it's such an awful tragedy.

Even crazier, I saw this story, realized I went to school with his siblings and the people representing him legally.

Wow, that is crazy. Dude should be charged and sentenced accordingly, but respect to him for doing the right thing.

I guess I see it differently...

fuck him. He's full of shit. He knows damn well he's fucked b/c of his blood test and he killed someone. So let's play some soft sappy music in the background and try to make you feel sorry for me and maybe you'll be more lenient on me. All while holding back a smirk. Go to court, apologize to the family, and go to prison. don't put a youtube video out to scream look at how sorry I am.. feel bad for me.

That's clearly a ploy to lessen his sentence. It's obviously scripted, rehearsed and terribly acted out. Hopefully the judge calls BS on his "remorseful" confession.

If he had remorse, he wouldn't have waited nearly 3 months to confess. 3 months a family mourned the loss of a loved one, not knowing if justice would have ever been served.

Not sure if they are cousins or 2nd cousins, or whatever. This guy was part of the family who founded Cord Camera.

Also, he didn't necessarily wait 3 months to confess. If you read the articles about the incident, he was identified as the "other driver" back in June. It's not like he was completely unknown and likely to be completely free had he not confessed. He just hasn't been officially charged. Not sure if that's because of lack of evidence or some technicality, who knows. From my understanding, basically, it was up in the air whether he would even be charged prior to this video. So it's not like he was caught red-handed and immediately tried to plead it down or whatever. Arguably, he could've just stayed quiet, let things play out and possibly get off, considering it's taken over 2 months to do anything.

Still, I can't disagree with anyone's comment about the video. I've seen just about every opinion/reaction to it imaginable.

I think the kid seems genuine. If I were in his shoes, I imagine I'd be racked by guilt and maybe he sees this as a way of doing something honorable in the victim's memory. It's a terrible story and I hope this guy means what he says.

Not really. The prosecution was asking for the max sentence and Judge Lynch seemed to be going along with that. By pleading not guilty, it threw him into the judge pool, and also allows more time for the 2 sides to work out a plea deal.

Heretic;1499017 wrote:Seems a smart strategy.

1. Confess to crime publicly.
2. Plead not guilty.
3. Piss off judge.
4. Likely get maximum sentence from pissed off judge when it all comes down.
There's only a 1/17 chance he ends up back with Lynch
