Reds can lose the next 5 games and still have a winning record for August, but if they don't step up and win more games starting this week, they'll have the opportunity for one and out in the playoffs.

Too early to set the rotation up so Latos can pitch in that one game playoff, and then have Cingrani, Bailey and leak to throw the first three games of the next series?

Lose 2 of 3, outscore the opponent. Probably win like 9-2 in one game, then only score 3 combined the other 2 games. I'll bank on the big W coming tomorrow night.

Lyons bamboozles the Reds 2 and 3 hitters! My thought when Choo walked to lead off was that this might be the most promising point of the whole game for the Reds. And so far it is. We'll see what happens from here.

Ump blew the K call on Leake's 2-2 pitch to the lead-off hitter.

Leake robbed again by the 1-1 call to Molina.

Cozart follows the missed DP with a gap shot triple to RCF, and a 2-0 lead. Oppo pays off! Can Leake get the "easy" RBI?

No, but he draws a big walk, then Choo gets bamboozled, but Frazier does not this time and gets a big two RBI triple. Cards get burned trying to get more offense in the game by playing Descalso, and miss the DP to end the inning still scoreless, resulting in a 4-0 game.

After Jay gets a hit to put one on in the 3rd, Leake robbed again by the ump on the 0-1 pitch, then he subsequently walked Jay ahead of the deflating 3 run HR.

Leake gets them 1,2,3 in the 4th, the same 3 batters as in the 2nd, this time on 11 pitches. But, next inning they start the same place in the order as they did in the inning they got 3 runs.

Looking at the box score..this is a classic "score a ton of runs early, then don't score any" type of loss.

I was thinking the same thing. Up 4-0 early and I would still have put it above a 50% chance that the Reds lose.

On perfect pace to lose 6-4.

The strike zone is as much homer as I've witnessed in a long long time.

Cozart with his 2nd gapper, this time a 2B to LCF, and his 3rd RBI, another big one, an add on run to boost the lead to two!
