This really makes me angry. IMO it's only a matter of time that the NCAA is destroyed

WTF is wrong with the NCAA?

Apparently they don't have anything better to do than screw with this young man who only wants to play football. How in the hell can they justify making this guy "red shirt" simply because he played some intramural-style football with his military colleagues?

Seems the NCAA has a lot bigger fish to fry than this.

The NCAA seems to have a death wish for its own relevancy.

I was curious how the law was written so I went and read the applicable sections and they obviously just followed the law (no weird twisting of words).

The rule was written to prevent someone from going to train and play for a year without pay (retain amatuer) to improve for collegiate sports. They should most likely include a military exception as I doubt someone would jjoin the military in order to gain a slight advantage to play collegiate sports after their enlistment period is up.

But in this case they should let the guy play.

I play intramural sports on base. Its pure comedy that they consider that organized sports. In flag football, they just hire random people to ref the games, its not like they are paid professionals. And uniforms?? 1 out every 100 teams actually pays for nice jerseys. Most are a teeshirt with their unit name on it and a number.

The ncaa is so stupid.

This stuff bothers me more than the money issues. Greed is a deadly sin, but it's at least logical. This is pure stupidity.

If the fkn NCAA prevents this honored vet from playing but allows that POS Johnny Manzier to play I will personally throw a Molotov cocktail thru their office windows.

Good that they reversed it, but knowing they did so purely because the story gained attention to the mass public still pisses me off.
