I suck at history but this weekend in Jackson they are reenacting (sp) it's 150th anniversary as they marched right through town back in 1863. Festivities all weekend (not really my thing but looks pretty cool).....but as I type they have been shooting off cannons the past 15 minutes and it's rumbling my house and it's awesome.

Morgan went through my great great grandfathers farm in Columbiana County shortly before he was caught. We used to find artifacts there when we were kids

You've done everyone's Sister.

Morgan's raiders actually came through the Cincy area from what I've read. No battles though.

It was a great psychological ploy. Can you imagine what people were thinking when seeing them storm through your little town back then?

Morgans raiders did considerable damage to Jasper, just west of Piketon across the Scioto river. Locals cut timber and laid it across the road, slowing down the raiders. Men were arrested, but one, Joseph McDougal became mouthy with them and he was tied in a canoe and let loose in the Scioto only to be shot by a rebel marksman. They looted Jasper and burnt the bridge across the Scioto river behind them. They looted Piketon and stole horses and other items and left for Jackson. I missed the reenactment at Jackson, would liked to have went. I am a big history buff.

Redstreak: Did the locals put the mouthy man in the canoe or did the raiders?

Capt. Morgan had come north to sell his spiced Rum to Ohioans but they were loyal to the Hard Cider that Johnny Appleseed had already cornerd the market with.
