OSU's best chance at getting a NC bid is Alabama losing. The best scenario would be for Auburn to knock off Alabama or Alabama needs to lose the SEC championship game. Both of these situations seem quite possible.
Florida State has to have a complete meltdown to lose any games from here on out including what promises to be a joke of an ACC championship game.
Meantime the Buckeyes need to win out and beat probably Michigan State in the B1G championship. Indiana should be a lock and beating Michigan in the Big House won't be easy but
shouldn't be an issue this year. Michigan State obviously worries me the most. Sparty has pulled it together and seems hungry for a Rose Bowl bid.
The Buckeye defense is an enigma. It started out the season a bit shaky and appeared to finally get its act together...before letting down against a below average Illinois team. Bad time to get shaky again IMHO and precisely why the pollsters have a negative opinion of the Buckeyes as being a complete team on both sides of the ball. YES the other Top 5 teams also have had shaky defensive games but for whatever reason (Urban Meyer perhaps?), the Buckeyes get a lot more scrutiny.
