If that made Vince Gilligan cry, then he's a bitch. That would be cause for celebration.ptown_trojans_1;1485047 wrote: I also think someone close to Walt dies, either Skylar, or his son.
I'd like to see Skylar get killed by a car wash malfunction, ala Final Destination.

I agree. One of the best scenes in the whole series.TedSheckler;1485485 wrote:"Tread lightly."

There was no "warm-up" to the episode... It seemed like you knew shit was going to be intense right away and the episode certainly delivered.
Can't wait for next week. Last five minutes was crazy

Was afraid nothing much was going to happen this episode. I was wrong. Also, Jesse needs to die.

Great episode to start the second half of the season. Good set up and the final scene with Hank was awesome. Also really liked the opening, him saying hello to his neighbor was hilarious.

Notice how the pool how has finally hit rock bottom? Gets a little more rundown every year, but it's officially ruined.
Great episode, but that threat seemed a bit strange to me. He always holds Jesse's hand, but then here's family and he's threatening him. He doesn't know Hank if he thinks a threat is going to work.

They split the final season into two parts, 8 episodes each. So, this is technically the 2nd half of Season Five.
Kind of lame having to wait, but it was worth it.
It was a great return.
Hank was great in the episode. How he reacted when he figured it, and then the wave of connecting all the dots on his way home causing him to crash was a great sequence.
And the final scene was one of the best of the series, easily. The subtle switch to, "I have no idea what you are talking about." to "Tread lightly" was fantastic.

Oh, Jessie got a threat too. What do you think he meant when Walt told Jessie, "You HAVE to believe me.", about Mike? That was a threat, trust me.gut;1485603 wrote:Great episode, but that threat seemed a bit strange to me. He always holds Jesse's hand, but then here's family and he's threatening him. Ehhh, I think that was meant more for the viewer. We all know what he meant and what he'd do, but I don't think that was an intentional/intended direct threat as far as the characters are concerned. Walt doesn't have a problem with being direct when he needs to be. It's almost schizoprenic in that he's desperately pleading with Jesse to believe him [or the bad Walt is going to come hurt you...]. He's not trying to intimidate him - he actually wants/needs Jesse to believe in him...I don't know if it's an ego/control or friendship thing or what.TedSheckler;1485615 wrote:Oh, Jessie got a threat too. I think every episode is going to be as intense as last night seeing that we have to get clear up to the scene that is showed at the beginnning by the time the season is over.

I don't see it that way. I don't think Walt WANTS to kill Jessie, but he will if he has to or if Jessie believes that Mike is dead. That's why Walt needs Jessie to believe him.gut;1485620 wrote:Ehhh, I think that was meant more for the viewer. I think Walt fakes his death and leaves all family behind, which is why the neighbor was so shook up to see him.

Plausible, I'm not sure it really fits how important family has been to his character - he doesn't want his children to remember him that way. It would make sense if he did it sooner rather than later, and then perhaps Hank would choose to spare his children. But given that he didn't react at all to "Heisenberg" graffitied in his house, the secret clearly gets out.se-alum;1485949 wrote:I think Walt fakes his death and leaves all family behind, which is why the neighbor was so shook up to see him.
With several million, he could run for basically forever. Heck, maybe he even "disappeared" to seek some sort of experimental treatment for his cancer.
Maybe the bigger question is who does he need the ricin for (and why couldn't he just cook up a new batch?). Maybe Jesse is locked-up and getting ready to testify, and the ricin would be a good/easy way to get to him in prison with the cigarettes. Skylar doesn't smoke? But I think Hank smokes at least cigars. The woman that took over the operation also smokes.
Without witnesses, they don't really have anything to convict him on (aside from tax evasion, which again without Skylar might be tough).

I see why you think that now. She certainly reacted like she had just seen a ghost. But my perception was she was simply scared stiff at seeing a ruthless drug kingpin. Fear or shock or both? Don't know, but she definitely peed herself.se-alum;1485949 wrote:I think Walt fakes his death and leaves all family behind, which is why the neighbor was so shook up to see him.

Jesse is dealing with some serious depression and they got to it real quick with Walt/Hank. Last 5 minutes was the best scene they've had since the fight Jesse/Walt had in season 4.

Thanks. I'm going to binge watch and see how far I can get. On episode 8 now so got a lot of work to do but episode 7 got me excited so I'll be flying through this.
