Walt comes back with all that ammo, bombs, and/or whatever it showed in the first episode of season 5 to take out Todd's gang.

Although technically that was kind of a bone-headed move. The kid will go into child services and you'd expect him to be hard to find/track, so the leverage would have been killing the kid and not the other way around. Although killing a kid that way might have been tough even for cable tv (but they did do it before).

Plus it's one thing to agree to continue to cook and distribute meth. Attracting the attention that will come from the obvious slaying/execution of an innocent single mom doesn't make much sense.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get flamed but...aside from some powerful scenes and great acting, the way they've been wrapping this up just seems a little sloppy and lazy. Kind of a reach the way they had to shift focus to Todd's gang suddenly to set-up this dramatic finale confrontation - it's been predictable while testing credulity at the same time.

Just as an example...I kind of get, as a device for character development/insight, why Walt asks that guy if he would give the money to his family. But Walt's never been that stupid. Even desperate and hopeless, it's still inconceivable that Walt would ever ask that question.

I disagree, and it's not inconceivable that he would ask because:
1) he's on his deathbed
2) he's lost virtually everything, including his identity


The gun is for the gang. Walt is going to kill as many of them as possible, probably let Jesse live since that's all he has left.
Ricin is for himself.

I would really hate to watch TV and movies if I was you. How would you prefer this season/series end?

He wasn't asking in a manner that made it seem that he thought it was a real possibility to let the guy take care of the money. It was more for his own realization. Plus Walt has been spending months alone with no one to talk to and nothing to do but bask in his misery and sickness.

I have no idea how this last season has been lazy at all.

agreed. I think people overthink things too much...just enjoy it. One of the best shows ever.

Gut...you ignorant bastard. The writer was trying to show how desperate and alone Walt was feeling by asking Robt. Forester (great actor for this part by the way) if he would deliver the money to his family. Doesnt Walt already know this guy could take the whole barrel of money pretty much anytime he wants to anyway? That was genius writing imo. But then most genius's do recognize other genius's work.

No, it was very much the opposite. It was extremely obvious and predictable. He doesn't seem to think much of his viewer's IQ as most of this last season has been smacking you in the face with the obvious over and over and over to make the point.

Paying the guy to stay and talk was good. The home chemo was a nice touch. The talk about the money barrel was just repetitive filler, presumably because Vince couldn't think of another way to have that conversation on the phone with Walt Jr.

Lol, you're killing me. He could have had the convo with Jr. either way. Again, how would you prefer this season/series end?

Vince thinks you're that stupid (he's actually said as much, not understanding and being disgusted that people actually root for Walt), that's why he keeps beating you over the head with Walt's hopelessness and what he's lost...and you're too stupid to even realize it. Vince needed Walt to literally talk about the barrel of money and wonder what to do because clearly some people aren't going to figure that out for themselves.

But mainly it was an excuse to create that conversation with Walt Jr (and close another loop in a rather sloppy and lazy manner, and not one that necessarily even needed closing). Sorry if you thought there was supposed to be some great added symbolism in that convo - it was primarily a plot device and also to bluntly spell things out for the intellectually challenged.

Subtle things like Saul telling Walt to just chill and die in peace, or Walt asking him for the number of a "guy who knows a guy". Putting the Heisenberg hat on and defiantly breaking out of his "prison", before then going complete ***** at the bar. Those are examples of the what was consistently excellent writing of the show. People think the final season is great because it's closure bukkake, but if you actually step back I think you'd recognize it's not on the same level as prior seasons.
