Are the headsets better than having 5.1 surround?

Depends. Some headsets can virtualize 5.1 pretty well. Not sure a $99 pair would, though.

The plus to them is you can hear damn near everything (like someone else noted).

I'd take a good pair of stereo headphones over anything else, including surround sound.

Yeah, my main purpose is to replace a pair of stereo headphones that are plugged directly into the DS4 controller. I have a 5.1 theater setup in the basement with projector, etc., but I don't feel like going down there in the cold late at night anymore.

I use headphones all the time because the room that I game in is directly under my 2 daughters bedrooms (toddler and 1 year old), so I don't want to wake them up.

I'd wait on reviews, then. Odds are the headphones will be heavier than you're used to (wireless/battery adds weight) and it might get uncomfortable after 30+ minutes of gaming.

You might be better off finding someone else who has them so you can test them out before pulling the trigger. $99 for headphones you don't like would be $99 you could spend on games instead

Yeah, good points...and I just read about the Xbox One adapter, so I'd like to see more of what that is capable of (details are kind of sketchy at this point), because ultimately I'd like something that works out on both PS4 and XB1, with PS4 being the highest priority.

Gaming headphones make the whole gaming experience much better. I bought the Turtle Beach XP400's last year and they are amazing. They were really pricey but a good investment.

I got it from signing up, pretty much as soon as it went live I saw it on reddit that people were already signing up a little earlier than the expected start time, and I got on there right away..

I read they are extending it past the 18th, too, since there were server issues for a bit. Not sure if a new end date has been announced, but might be a few extra days now...

Yea I read they were extending it at least 1 day. I meant the 19th. It just sucks that it wont be out for another month or so and the games out now for the one are underwhelming to say the least.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of Battlefield anyway, and now it's going to be impossible to go back to that right now after having a lot of fun with this beta. I'll be wanting to call in a Titan in a game of Conquest.

I'm picking up Rayman this week, though, so that should hold be over a few weeks.

Titanfall is amazing. I'm not a fan of the FPS normally but this game is really fun.
