Yes, it is because she's a woman. That is a basic tenant of civilized society - never hit a woman. If he'd slapped a 150 pound guy, I'd have to know the circumstances before I made a judgement. For example, if the guy had attacked him as he (Hyde) was walking down the street, maybe I'd see it as justified. If it occurred at 2AM in a bar, maybe I'd look at it similarly to this case. I'm just not sure without a specific example.
I just cannot find any excuse for slapping a woman in a bar. Maybe it's unfair that a woman can hit first and then not be struck back. But life isn't fair. If the Buckeyes believe their giant wall sign about respecting woman, this can't stand. It makes no difference if this woman is the biggest B in the history of mankind.
