I'm not aware of any requirement to have a SSN, but one can't legally earn income without reporting it, which requires one.

I believe it's possible to apply for a tax ID without having a Social Security Number.

Happy to help. I actually had to ask a cousin-in-law. He hasn't gotten SSNs for any of his kids, which he's apparently proud of.Con_Alma;1479202 wrote:I see. Thanks.
