I should have thrown a smiley in there. I was joking. Although Miami is slightly above average. They should have thrown more money at Butch before he wasted his time wasting Cleveland's draft picks.
Had Butch Davis stayed with Miami, you guys would have stayed a top 15 team, easily. Instead, you got stuck with Coker and Shannon, and now you're slightly above average.

Coker was the shitty coach, Shannon has turned things around, I wouldn't say a current top 15 team is an average team.

I didn't say average. I said slightly above average. I don't think they're mutually exclusive. Spurrier's results aided his recruiting. Spurrier at the kitchen table across from your mother and you probably didn't endear you to Florida as much as success did. Meyer probably fared better in that dept.But how much of Florida's success can you weigh on great coaching, compared to recruiting?
The really good ones do both very well, face to face, x & o's

In essence you sort of just agreed with me that UF is going to get their recruits, simply because they are UF, thanks to what 2 of the last 3 head coaches have done for them.

It's to short of a time frame to say "name only" obviously their name helps them at this point in time but due to the success of the last two coaches. Bring in Joe bag-o-barbecue Chips as a head coach and that dwindles fast, look at Michigan as an example. There are not nearly as many high end recruits there were even in the Llod Carr years, and they were clearly a "name" program.

In Zook's first season, Florida was 20th in recruiting, and took them to 2nd in 2003.
However, Meyer has easily been their best recruiting coach being top 5 in each year but 1, in which he was 7.
I don't know. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Lol.

From the SI article that was out a few weeks ago, I think his family moved to Cincinnati and now that is where most are based out of. His sister is Admin at UC and his dad lives Cincy too (I think)ytownfootball wrote: Ashtabula area I think.

Not a Meyer or UF fan at all, but here's to him getting his health back and enjoying time with his family. Hard to top what that guy accomplished as a head coach.
Part of me wonders about an NFL job, or Tebow leaving, but I really do think he's stepping down for the right reasons.

Meyer to Notre Dame. I have inside info. from athlete37 of this website. He thought it was going to be Bob Stoops, but it is actually going to be Meyer. ND will buy-out Kelly before he even starts so that Meyer can coach the Irish next season!!!

Geez, man...get your facts straight. ND found out that Kelly lied on his resume - he said his last job was coach of a MAJOR college football program.
