Yes he was, early on...and IMO (for now at least) he's a late inning plug-in guy, or someone to give a regular the day off. Yes, Tito was forced to use him with Cabrerra out, but he's just not getting the job done, and it's hurting the team. I understand that, but imo as long as we keep Santana's bat in the lineup, Gomes' defense warrants him being in there as much as possible. He is also hitting .412 with 2 outs and risp.
