So the prosecution's case is anchored by witnesses who heard someone scream (can't be sure who) and have changed their story about who was on top. Right.

Even if George Zimmerman acted in self defense, it's because he's a fucking idiot that someone died. So if he's found guilty, and it was self defense...I can't feel bad for him.

I'm kind of with Zwick on this. I don't think Zimmerman will be found guilty, I'm surprised the murder charge stuck honestly. I thought it would get downgraded to manslaughter.

When you have an unwinnable case the POTUS "tells you" to try, at least go for the max so people feel like you threw the book at him. I don't think there was ever much of a chance of any sort of murder/manslaughter charge. They might have got him on something less than that.

And I don't understand that. I've seen other people get tried or literally dozens and dozens of charges. I don't understand the relative lack of lower charges. My only explanation is that if you give the jury something they can actually convict on, the bloodthirsty might think you gave the jury an out to let him off. In other words, given the racially charged atmosphere surrounding this case, a lesser charge might be even more of a loss. So you overcharge, put on a dog and pony show, and then pray there are no riots.
