Pretty crazy really...a few years who would have thought Tressel and Gee would both be gone?

Dr. Edward J. Ray could be a strong possibility to replace Gree.

Yup. After Tressel left I thought it'd be Smith then Gee.

Also known as fired with benefits.

Schottenstein was furious with the comments, Gee goes. I guess that is the kind of pull you have when your name is on the Basketball court.

Gee knows where the firestorm of his inappropriate comments is going....at age 69 he doesn't have to put up with it...leaving quickly makes it easier and less painful for everybody. the only ones that probably aren't happy about it is the media who won't have this to harp on ad nauseum.

Will probably hurt OSU in the long run. Gee was an incredible fundraiser for the University.

You didn't read the article posted above your post?
[LEFT]COLUMBUS -- Outgoing Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee said early today that he will continue fund-raising for the school and working with students.

Also, if Gee was such a terrific fundraiser, then why not put him *in* a FUNDRAISING position. The guy clearly said enough stupid comments to deserve an ousting from University President, but if you want to keep him on board in soley for fundraising purposes, then create a position. But I *do* believe the University is trying to separate themselves from him, and this is clearly an attempt at doing that.

OSU has to separate themselves from anyone who says or does anything stupid. They probably have to take this stance for another 5-10 years. Some idiot reporter somewhere is probably going to accuse Gee of tampering with the other schools recruiting by saying the things he said. OSU can't afford ANY negative press like that at least for another couple of years.
