With their first bowl appearance since 1984 and after the way they just crushed Nevada tonight with a score of 45-10. In only his secod year, June Jones seems to be the man to turn the program around.

No, Notre Dame beat Nevada 35-0 earlier this and Nevada was without their top 2 running backs for this game. Nevada's defense is horrible, their offense wins them games. Their offense is based on those two running backs (each 1,000 yards) plus Kaepernick and can't really run simply on Kaepernick

SMU is on the rise, but June Jones is out for a paycheck and won't be there long enough to return them to where they'd like to be.

I don't know whether this all translates into SMU rising up and becoming a dominant football power or not, but I do know that it certainly didn't hurt my football poll entry. i got points for SMU's effort and I just wish I'd have listed SMU as a surer thing.

not sure I could see SMU being a legit power like they used to be, seeing as they're in CUSA and everything now(not a BCS buster conference) but it'd be nice to see them win 8 or 9 a year again instead of fledgling after the death penalty....

Not sure how long Jones will stay

Good for SMU. June Jones is proving that coaching matters.

SMU = expensive part of Dallas, like queencitybuckeye said hot co-eds, maybe a little bit overrated academically,

their "powerhouse" football teams of the 80's - incredibly overrated. Other than they bought many of their blue chip recruits, their scheduling was nothing short of pathetic. I think there was one year they didn't play a game outside the state of Texas.

Their uniforms are sharp. I'm a fan of them returning to power. Tough recruiting landscape in Texas though.

I actually heard SMU had a not too shabby recruiting class coming in. Don't know if that's the truth or not but that's what I heard....
