Has anyone ever had problems with getting pulled over for tinted windows. I have just had my second violation in two months in Wayne County by the same State Highway Patrol Officer. I am not from the county so it seems like they are targeting out of town drivers. The same officer has issued most of the tickets for the county this year.

I am not required to have the violation fixed I just need to pay the fine. It doen't make sense that if it is such a hazard that I am not required to have it fixed. Anyone have the same problem?

But if you don't get it fixed, aren't you going to continue to get tickets?

or just avoid Wayne County. I've had this car for almost two years and they are the only ones who pull me over.

I'd avoid the county at all costs. Sounds like a nice revenue generator for them.

Seems like this would be an illegal stop & search because I tend to think the cop can't be certain if your tint is in violation. Unless it's egregious, a cop shouldn't be able to stop you because it LOOKS like your window tint is too dark.

Don't they have handheld things that can test the tint? And if they suspect you're windows are too dark, well, they probably could pull you over on suspicion alone

Yes, they can pull you over just because your tint LOOKS too dark.

A lot of areas have started fining heavy for window tint. Alliance is one of those areas as well. They straight up said on their police dept Facebook page, if you have tint, avoid Alliance, you will be ticketed.

Just stay out of Wayne County, as others have said, its a quick way to make money. Thats all there is to it

Quit being a thug and remove the tint. That dark of tint looks stupid anyways.

Hope this helps.

Hope this helps

Ok, I am not a thug. I am a 49 year old white lady. The windows were that way when I bought the car. They don't even look that dark. I didn't even know I was in violation until I had the car over a year. Its only in this one county I have a problem. Will be avoiding Wayne County

So you're a 49 year old who knowingly continues to break a law? Nice.

If the tint is factory, it's not illegal.

Every state is different, so that's not necessarily true. By and large though, yes.

Right, ignore the fact that it helps prevent fading on your interior by keeping out UV rays, helps keep your interior cooler in the summer, improving safety by helping prevent glass shattering in an accident and cutting down on glare from the sun, plus it makes it harder for would be thieves to see whats in your car when walking by.

Actually, no, I don't. Derp.

My wifes car has tinted windows, but there is a prescription for that for medical reasons. Otherwise it wouldn't be done. I don't need to give the cops a reason to pull me over if they want to.

I have 20% window tint and have never been pulled over nor ticketed for it. I've heard of cops making people peel the tint off on scene.

Hope this helps.
