While I agree with you (I myself am not religious), I think the best course of action here is Santa Claus and a serious talk and perhaps even some time away from said sister-in-law.

ok i think you have 2 options here.

1.) this might be the hardest because you are religious too. but secretly tell her kids that God doesnt exist and Jesus is just some mexican guy selling tacos down the street.

2.) if her kids get christmas presents, steal them before the kids can get them and explain to her that if santa doesnt exist, her kids shouldnt get any presents. or just keep any of the gifts you might have been getting her kids haha.

There are ways that you can express your disgust with her antics and not piss her off. Just have a discussion about it to her and kindly explain that there are some things that you and your wife (her own damn sister) just want your kids to learn things as they grow up, and that you'll handle breaking the "bad news" to them, when it's necessary.

I'm sure she will understand since she's a mother herself.

If she doesn't understand, then sometimes the Chris Brown method is the only way.

Dlazz... while I normally despise you and your posts, I understand where you are coming from.

We are going to let her believe as long as she wants, until she figures it out for herself, or until we feel she has reached the age where she can reason. She will know both sides of it.

This morning, we told her that the reason Santa comes to give presents, is because it is Jesus' birthday, and wants everyone to have presents on Jesus' birthday. I see absolutely no harm in that, nor do I see hypocrisy.

I'd let your daughter know that Santa Claus(St. Nicholas) and presents are the way that parents celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus and the love of their own children. This exists well beyond the time when a child realizes that the magical elf is a SYMBOL for love and giving....very Christian values.

Your sister in law and some others on here need to quit being so rigid and embrace the symbolism and spirit that extends not only to Christians but to other faiths as well.

You must want your kids to be unimaginative and have any fun when they are actually kids.

Besides, what 4 year old gives a hoot about the story of Christmas? It's all about the fun of the mysterious Santa Clause. Leaving out milk and cookies, and going to bed to wake up and see presents under the tree from Santa.

My daughter paid little-to-no attention to what her aunt said. She didn't take it to heart.

For the record if anyone pulled some shit like this and tried to ruin Christmas for my daughter, I'd seriously get physical.

My sister slapped my babies hand last week because she kept pulling ornaments off the tree and I kicked her right in the ass. My baby is 1 year old, she doesn't get slapped yet. just do like I did a million times, Say no and take her away from the tree.
