My wife's stupid sister-in-law (whom I have known longer than my wife) had the freaking audacity to tell my daughter that Santa wasn't real. My daughter is four. Four years old.

I am a believer in God, and I have accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. I know the true meaning of Christmas. My children will know the true meaning of Christmas. My wife's Brother and Sister-in-law are OVERLY religious, and this just downright pissed me off. Where in the hell do YOU get off telling MY daughter that Santa doesn't exist?

I told my wife that we should start telling their kids what is "OK" and "not OK." (They're extremely strict parents).

End rant

What would you do?
- She's family, so I can't curbstomp.
- Quite attractive, but "do her sister(in-law)" is not realistic
- SMH (there Sage, I beat you to it)

Yeah, I mean, does she have a brain?

You shouldn't even ever have to tell someone NOT to do that. Look, I don't even celebrate Christmas, but I'm not running around elementary school classrooms to break the news to 5 and 6 year olds.

You keep that myth alive, ridiculous as it may seem, until the parent chooses to break the news, or the kid wises up otherwise.

Beat the hell out of your brother in law and tell him to keep his wife in order or she will be next.

Did she tell her intentionally or just let it slip?

I know I have come close to letting it slip when little kids were around.

Knowing the sister-in-law (VERY open up front about her beliefs) I would say that my daughter had to be talking about Santa, and she had to say something like...

"Santa isn't real, you know. We celebrate Christmas for Jesus' birth."

Yes, true... but STILL!

You must sit your daughter down quietly and explain the situation carefully,

"Honey, your mother and I had a long discussion about this and decided to tell you a few things. Your aunt (insert name here) has a drinking problem..."

fight fire with fire

Hoestly ernest, you just need to reinforce your thoughts on the matter to your daughter, she will obviously believe you and the wife before she believes auntie whats her name.

I would inform sister in-law- to STFU when in concerns your family or she'll not be around her neice.

Agree with both parts. However, since it is my Wife's side, she'll do the talking.

ernest...you realize by not doing so yourself, you are passing up a golden opportunity to relieve yourself of attending future in-law type extravaganzas for a very long time.

LOL, yes. But I happen to like her side of the family :) And I have known this particular sister-in-law (and brother/kids) for about 10+ years now. I'd get too pissed if I said anything, and it may turn into a religious discussion.

Oh my gosh.....the Easter Bunny has no chance......not to mention The Great Pumpkin!

Ernest, just give your daughter a couple of presents from Santa and tell her that Aunt so-in so must be wrong.
Then tell your sister-in-law to butt out of your parenting.
