I have met people from all over through the military. They all hate osu. So when this blew up they came out in full force. To the bama and Florida ones I asked them what is worse what gee said or bamas president supporting segregation in school groups. Their answer was that its the south,that's to be expected. What???
And then my neighbors who are lousiville grads when I asked what is worse what gee said or your ball coach ,who is blasting gee, fucking some chick in a restaurant and paying for a mistress to have an abortion. They both without hesitation said gee because he spoke words that hurt the catholic people. LOL!!!

I agree with this. I didn't care either...but Gee's comments were the equivalent of a guy cracking jokes about white people. Most people in the target group didn't care enough to be upset. But had it been a different group, people all over would have been outraged.

Still think forcing him to retire (which I'm assuming is what happened), is dumb.

Dr. Edward J. Ray could be a possibility for replacing Gee. That's the word on twitter.

No, just proving that the peeons that thought this was "no big deal" were wrong, and when I said "it's time to go," it looks like smarter minds agreed.

Again, no one is "overreacting" about the individual comment in and of itself. It's the now repetitive knucklehead comments that have leaked from Gee's mouth that have proven to be his downfall. You can cry and scream "It's unfair" ... "people are overreacting" all you want, but this moved might have saved a HUGE embarrassment later. At the rate Gee was going with talking about things he really had no business giving his input on, I wouldn't be surprised if he got caught making a homophobic slur anytime soon.

Yeah, if anything, it's a kind of sad reminder that if you're a person with some degree of fame, you really have to be buttoned-down and PC/professional at ALL times because someone is ALWAYS listening/watching.

This is pretty comparable to if I made joking/assholeish comments about someone in the office while hanging out with my friends at their place and then found myself getting chewed out by my boss because word somehow leaked about what I was saying. The whole, "Maybe I shouldn't have said it, but I was just in a small group and had no clue anything I was saying was getting repeated for the masses, so what the fuck!?" sort of thing.

Well those "smarter minds" didn't push for him to retire 6 months ago when it happened. It wasn't until after ESPN picked it up and ran with it (which I'm still not sure why), that this happened. So for six months it wasn't a big deal (I know they were displeased though) but now it is? It's an overreaction.

The comments were on topics that he had business discussing, unless conference expansion and academic is something a University President shouldn't have input on. While the jokes were bad, what are the other offensive comments has Gee said? I see "I hope the coach doesn't fire me" comment brought up, and while it was strange and naive looking back, it wasn't offensive or degrading. I'm equating it to the Rutger's situation with Athletic Director because they let him go when he didn't do anything particularly wrong, as an overreaction to the media's attention to the story. They then hired somebody that actually has a history of abuse. Now they have somebody in the situation that probably wont' be as effective of an athletic director and has a history of similar behavior that started the mess in the first place. If you can't see the similarities that I am discussing, then it is pointless.

Anyone who doesn't think Les is going to mess this president search up, doesn't know Les when it comes to Ohio State decisions... (IMO)

I respectfully disagree. I think Gee had this coming, and these latest rounds of comments were the last straw. Everyone keeps talking about how his role was to fund-raise money. You know what, even a *BIGGER* role of Gee's was to protect the image of the University, and lately, he's done nothing but cast a little mud on it with all his recent neanderthal comments.
