It's ridiculous to knock Cleveland for the BP trade. He wasn't going to succeed there. He was dealt at the right time. He's said it humbled him, he's found a home and will likely play his whole career in Cincy. Had he stayed in Cleveland, I'd wonder if he be anywhere what he is.
I don't think it has a chance at happening, but what if Drew Stubbs becomes a good player? I won't for a second feel like the Reds screwed up in trading him. It doesn't matter what they got. He simply wore out his welcome in Cincy. It was time to move on.

Why would they trade away Phillips and then 3 and a half months later trade away Belliard? Did they think they could sign Belliard long term and when they couldn't they decided to trade him? Dumb thinking.Commander of Awesome;1450926 wrote:Tribe traded Phillips bc of Ronnie FUCKING Belliard. Yup, we traded stud for a fat fuck. Hope this helps.

LEADOFF....LEADOFF....Dusty bats the CF 1st and nothing else matters....SS bats 2nd and he's done this now for his 6th season. His OB% for Corey Patterson, Wily Taveras, Stubbs....has to be about .290....EVERYDAY. No we don't have Stubbs....I'm giving examples of the crap he does and would do.

No shit. Pirates have the same record as the Reds and the general consensus there is that while Hurdle is a great motivator and player's manager, he's pretty lousy at situational managing and in-game decision-making a lot of the time.SportsAndLady;1450886 wrote:Again you're not getting it. Just because 25 other teams would love to have our record doesn't make the managers moves not incompetent. 25 other ten would love to have our talent, and would most definitely do better with it than what dusty, a proven loser, would.
It is possible for a team to be good and a manager to still make mistakes, sometimes regularly. Just like it's possible for a message board poster to tell people to not take themselves so seriously when he's basically telling a fanbase how they should cheer for their team.

I hate the argument that you should be happy that your teams record is good. Should they not find opportunities to get better, just because they have a pretty good record right now? Pitching staff management and lineup management is a couple places where the Reds can improve.

Rep'd for truth. Take my word on it: having a good record now means nothing. Being 20 fucking games over .500 in August means nothing when you completely collapse down the stretch and finish with that 349835th straight losing season.se-alum;1451022 wrote:I hate the argument that you should be happy that your teams record is good. Managerial flaws can be overcome with talent, which Cincy and Pittsburgh have done so far this year in having great records. But over the long term, as injuries and fatigue get to be more of a factor, you need good managing a lot of times to push a team over the hump. It won't be a fun October if you're looking at the standings, seeing that you missed the postseason by one game and then suddenly start remembering a couple times where Votto hit a homer or extra base hit, but no one was on base to drive in because he was batting after that .180-hitting back-up middle infielder because when Cozart sits, that guy HAS to bat second regardless of how bad he is at getting on base.
