Cliffnotes.
A content presentation system and method allowing content providers to regulate the presentation of content on a per-user-view basis. Content is distributed an associated license option on the number of individual consumers or viewers allowed to consume the content. Consumers are presented with a content selection and a choice of licenses allowing consumption of the content. The users consuming the content on a display device are monitored so that if the number of user-views licensed is exceeded, remedial action may be taken.

Basically they patented a system where they could view through your webcam, and if you had more people viewing something than you are licensed to do, they could take action.

Well, a low-tech solution would be to place a photo of myself in front of the camera = redneck jury-rigged

You quoted "Cliffsnotes." and nothing else thus giving your post improper context, dumbass.

You have to be a dumb ass to not be smart enough to use deductive reasoning.

MS has said that you'll be able to share your purchased games with up to 10 "family members" - but the family members don't have to be related to you or in your same location, just on your friends list for 30 days. Only drawback is they can't play at the same time unless you (the original purchaser) are also playing.

So, you could buy Madden and your brother could buy NCAA, and you could both play them from across the country. Pretty cool.

I like that, can rotate certain games with my friends. Trade ins are going to be up to the publisher correct?

That's right, trade-ins/reselling are up to each individual publisher. I'd imagine most will be OK with it since they'll be collecting the fees (not MS) but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

What publisher wouldn't want trade ins and used games? Probably half of their revenue comes from that. So basically all the fuss about supporting used games and everything is for nothing. The always connected thing doesn't bother me because I'm always connected anyway.

I can see one game publisher having a beef with this and it's the one you gave in your NCAA/Madden example.

EA has a hard-on for charging for those stupid cards that come in 360 games. I could see them doing that here too.

I.E. You can share this game with your cousin, but your cousin has to buy an online-pass and we're going to charge you $19.99 for it

I thought most online passes were 10 bucks?

Microsoft did an about-face and no longer will require an Internet connection (only for initial console setup), no online check-in every 24 hours, games will play the same offline as on, used games won't have any strings attached, etc.

Other than it costing $100 more than PS4, MS changed everything that everyone was bitching about. Nice.

was just coming here to post this....good move on their part, and if I only buy one console, it just might have to be the xbox one...we'll see, I currently have both on preorder and will likely keep both, but a lot can change in the next 5 months.

I like it, although if it gets rid of the 10-person game sharing I'll be a bit sad. Oh well. The HDMI in is still going to be awesome.
