Would have literally split the fans head in half.

Crean uses those for practicing and walk-through. Basically, helps with player position and stuff. Its just that stuff they put down for Volleyball lines and everything. Comes right off.

The Spartans have been less than impressive the last 2 months, but they have also won @Iowa and lost @Wisky on a last second shot. during that time. Payne and Appling played yesterday, but neither is in game condition, especially Appling. I'm assuming that Dawson will return in the next couple of weeks and be game ready by the time the NCAA tournament starts.

The loss at home to Nebraska was surprising, but not a shock. Terran Petteway is an under-appreciated player. He is a nightmare match-up because of his length and athleticism. He can make a case for being the B1G 10 POY.

Nebraska's schedule the rest of the way is very favorable. They have a good chance to play their way into the tournament.

Watched a little bit of Nebraska/Purdue today. Petteway looked really good.

They've won 5 straight and might be playing the best basketball in the B1G right now.

Nebraska has beaten who they should beat plus an upset of MSU. They have a great chance of winning their next 3 games. Petteway had 29 points today. Right now, I would vote him the Big 10 POY.

How much longer does Painter have at Purdue?

A more interesting question might be: Who wants to coach at Purdue? That will probably buy Matt Painter a little more time.

At the height of the Gene Keady era, Purdue was a national powerhouse and a household brand. Painter did a decent job for awhile, even elevating the program nationally in comparison to where it was when Keady left, but even then he was never able to come close to replicating the type of success Keady once enjoyed. Keady was a special coach, one of the all-time greats in the history of the game, who actually loved being at Purdue. Despite a rich tradition dating back to John Wooden and Rick Mount, I'm not sure the Boilermakers will ever be able to land another coach of that stature who will stay long enough to enjoy success beyond a Sweet 16.

Painter really didnt even do that much. He landed a SINGLE great class. Then, he failed to capitalize on that class (both in advancing in the NCAAs and on the recruiting trail) and even worse, it was when Indiana was absolute garbage. He has been, imo, awful at Purdue. Saved, literally, because Robbie Hummel chose the Boilers over the Hooseirs.

Pretty big win for Minnesota over Iowa. They're probably squarely on the bubble after this one.

This Michigan team is bi-polar.

This is just bad. I still think they'll win, though.

Big win for Michigan at the buzzer tonight. With Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana remaining, the Wolverines are in the driver's seat for the Big Ten title. Despite losing a pre-season first team All-American before Big Ten play, John Beilein has done an incredible job with this team.

I thought it was over as soon as he threw it. Looked like he wasn't throwing it right out of bounds. Risky play.

Michigan State with another terrible loss at home today, this time to Illinois and at full strength (with Dawson now back in the lineup). Spartans sit at 22-7 now, having lost 6 of their last 10 games.

It's time to start wondering if they were ever that good to begin with, and I believe that answer is no. Their early-season struggles with teams like Columbia and Portland at home set the tone for this team. Typically I agree that Izzo is able to get his team to play at a higher level come tournament time, but this team is just not as good as in years past.

^^^If this is any indication of how good the B1G is, then it's pretty much a big "not so much".

No great teams in B1G(although I am not sure there is anywhere in country), but top to bottom, there is no question this is the most balanced and most difficult conference. There are literally no easy games in this conference.

As much as this pains me, have to give credit where credit is due. Beilein has done a great job with this team. Even with McGary, I thought they were a bit overhyped. I also thought, and still do, that McGary was highly overhyped(based on tournament last year only). But still, he would have been a major player with this team. So major props to Beilein and UM for winning the B1G.

I agree that Beilein is a helluva coach, no argument there whatsoever. My point is that Michigan is good, but not great, and that if they're the conference champs, then it lends to my opinion that the conference is good--but not great.

What conference is great? Florida "looks" like the best team in the nation, but the SEC may be the worst major conference. When a team goes undefeated in major conference play, that says quite a bit about the conference to me. A lot of parity this year across the nation. The NCAA is wide open. So I don't think there is a "great" conference. As I said, I don't see any great teams in the B1G, but top to bottom, its the best conference in teams of balance.
