Oh, my bad. You meant just the last game. I could see that. Because seeding should be mostly done by then.

I love how they say that, but then it comes out and there are always a couple games where you just know it didn't just happen that way. The Michigan-Ohio game 2 years ago is the number one example of that to me.

Yes. If it was a Saturday night game it may get some consideration, but I honestly believe it's not a factor.

Well, with the B1G championship being one of the (if not the) last championship games (at least among major conferences; I do remember at least back in the day when the Selection Sunday show would have an "either/or" #15-16 seed for the winner of the late SWAC game), I'd guess that the result of that game would only effect things in the event of a big upset (a team that had to win their conference tournament to get in doing so) or in the case where there was no clue as to who would be a #1 and that game was, by necessity a tiebreaker.

Pretty sure they have always said it's too late to make changes. Thus, they make 2 brackets. One with 1 outcome and the other with the opposite outcome. So it DOES, play a role. They just have their brackets done before it's over.

Never heard that one. I heard Bobinski on the radio last week and he said the seedings are set by who makes the B1G championship game, not who wins it unless there is an auto bid chance. He said the game outcome plays no role.

I would venture to say, that on any given year, it could be done prior to the ending of the B1G championship game, OR they may do the two different outcomes. Much depends on the teams that make the title game and how it would affect the seeding. I believe last year, they said the game had no bearing on how the bracket shook loose. But I have heard differently in previous years.

In more important discussion stuff than if the B1G final relates to seeding, what are the tiebreaker possibilities between Nebraska, Iowa and Ohio State for the 4-6 seeds for the B1G tournament? For both a 3-way tie and who'd have the edge for any possible 2-way ties (Neb-Iowa or Neb-OSU)?

I believe it goes in order of winning percentage against the group.

Iowa: 2-1 (1-0 vs Neb, 1-1 vs OSU)
OSU: 2-2 (1-1 vs each)
Nebraska: 1-2 (0-1 vs Iowa, 1-1 vs OSU)

That's good to know. With my schedule, I need them to either be the 4 or 6 seed. I have work I can't get out of on Thursday afternoon, so if they're the 5, I'd be missing the game.

Technically, though, they'd need Nebraska to lose to Wisconsin to get that bye, though. Since the Huskers are a full game ahead of them at the moment.

There was an article referencing the SEC final, which is at 3:15PM, and how someone from the committee said it will not at all be a factor in seeding. I'd imagine it's the same with the B1G. So, wherever teams stand on Saturday, barring a miraculous upset of a non-at-large team on Sunday, it wouldn't matter.

Correct. Forgot about Nebraska. But OSU needed Iowa to lose as well, which they did.

The way this season is going, I don't think miraculous is out of the question going into conference tournaments.

Honestly, thats just ridiculous. That is basically telling America they dont do their job. EVERY GAME should matter in the seeding. To eliminate one before its even played is a complete joke and shouldnt be allowed.

Not really. It's not likely that the outcome of a league championship game would alter anything. And it sounds like they do consider it when it does matter.

They consider it when it involves someone who steals a bid. Like 7 years ago or whatever, when Georgia was 13-15 but won 4 straight to get a bid. Outside of something like that, they are basically saying by 2 PM or so on Sunday, they have the bracket set.

I tend to agree with Laley though. Usually, we talk about "key wins", and most conference finals are a great win for someone. Say Wisconsin beats Michigan in the B1G final. How can you then say, that doesn't help Wisky's seeding when a win like that on a regular season resume would be HUGE?

AZ, that's EXACTLY my point. No championship game is without major impact, IMO. If it involves someone stealing a bid, it's obvious. If it's a good team beating someone who would steal a bid, you still have to wait to see who won. if it's two good teams, how is that win ignored when all throughout the process you would have it as a good win an possible bump up the team from a 3 to a 2 or whatever it is.

Ignoring a game, particularly a championship game, is a joke.

Iowa is NOT on the bubble. 2nd best conference, .500 in conference play. They are in. Now, they certainly aren't playing well and a team that some thought would be a sleeper final four pick, no way at this point. Neb is more of a bubble team unless they pull off a win vs Wisky today. And they even have a better conf. record than Iowa. And Minn is even in the discussion with a high SOS.

At the same time, the committee has made it clear for years on end that these last second conference championships do not leave them enough time to develop a bracket (even eith contingencies) and get it to the network, and the conferences stubbornly schedule their games in the same slots year after year. They aren't doing themselves any favors.
