Honestly, UK isn't even as good as KU, IMO.

Yea, I wasn't serious. Just thought it was funny that after watching UK play an exhibition game, someone thought they knew how great their Freshmen were. Not to mention they already think they knew how great the locker room will be. They may end up being good, but let's not act like we know what they are after an exhibition game and their high school careers.

The woman accused of trying to extort $10 million from Pitino approached him in a restaurant six years ago and they had sex, the coach told police. Sypher says the sex happened after closing time at a table.
Two weeks later, the married father of five gave Karen Sypher $3,000 after she said she was going to have an abortion and didn't have health insurance, according to a summary of Pitino's July 12 statement to police. His attorney, Steve Pence, said Wednesday that the money was to help her get medical coverage, not specifically to pay for an abortion.

After seeing last year's team, which got decent hype to start the season, it's completely different. Many little things that those not following as closely may not pick up.

Does it translate to a dominant team? Who knows. I'd take the bet though.

As for KU, we'll see.

KU is the best team in the country..you can't convince me otherwise right now.

Bill Self with Perry Ellis and Naadir Tharpe returning and that recruiting class..

We will also get to see right away as they take on MSU. A team who has been together for 2+ years and is a great early season benchmark. MSU is already what they are, basically. It's a good measuring stick.

KU, because of the way college basketball has been the last 5-10 years (talent usually wins out, regardless of class) should be in the top 3, if not 1 or 2.

Either rank the teams based on how good they WILL be, or how good they have shown. If it's the latter, well neither team should be in the top 10. If it's the former, then a few other teams who are currently in the top 10, shouldn't be.

Looks like S&L will have a very happy college basketball season. Wiggins sounds ridiculous.

I am trying not to exaggerate but he is light years ahead of other players in college basketball this year. At least that's what the reports say out of Lawrence.

Lol at UNLV losing to Dixie in their exhibition opener. Nice job, Dave Rice.

They were trying to compare other 1 and done guys to him and they said Kyrie Irving....and had he played more than 11 games for Duke, maybe so. But then they went on to say that he was 6'7 with a 44 inch vertical and totally schooled UK's 1 and done guy who is figured to go #2 or #3 in the draft.

Kyrie Irving likely would've went down as the best freshman -- performance-wise -- in the history of the ACC had he not gotten injured. He was every bit as good as Kevin Durant was at Texas. Easily would've been a First Team All-American. Irving absolutely toyed with Tom Izzo's Michigan State squad that year, before going down with the injury just a few days later. I think it's an apt comparison. We'll see if Wiggins can live up to it. If the early reports are accurate, I'm sure he will.

Man, idk. I LOVE Kyrie, and loved him at Duke (at least for the few games he played). But Kevin Durant is the best college basketball player I've ever seen.

He was unreal.

The best Freshman, I've seen EVER in college basketball, is Michael Beasley. It's amazing he actually followed KD by a year and put up better numbers.

I was just about to post. I'm not sure how much people appreciated having Durant and Beasley back to back years.

Durant, 25.8 PPG, 11.2 RPG
Beasley, 26.2 PPG, 12.4 RPG

Keep in mind, Kevin Durant was the best college basketball player I've ever seen. Not just freshman or one-and-done. I've never seen someone like him play at the collegiate level.

It's pathetic he was actually forced to play a year in college lol

I agree that Durant was a monster, and because Irving did only play 11 games, it's hard to put him on that level. It just is. Unless you watched him really closely for those 11 games, there just wasn't enough of a sample size to evaluate him by. Definitely one of the great disappointments, if not the greatest, of my life as a Duke fan. No one could convince me otherwise that Duke wouldn't have won a title that year, giving K five.

That I've seen with having a conscious view of college ball as I see it today (we'll go about the last 15 years). I'm only 30, so I can't include guys who were there when I was like 8 years old. Really hard to categorize.

1. Michael Beasley
2. Kevin Durant
3. Derrick Rose
4. Kevin Love
5. Anthony Davis
6. Allen Iverson
7. Chris Webber
8. Carmelo Anthony
9. Luol Deng
10. Jason Kidd

I've excluded Chris Jackson, Patrick Ewing and Wayman Tisdale, who are all usually on top 10 lists of greatest Freshman ever, only because I was in single digits when those guys played.

Everyone always ranks Carmelo high, same with Anthony Davis. Both must be on here because of their impact in March.

I won't make a list, since the heavyweights have been covered. As a Duke fan, Deng would also be on my list, but not ahead of Irving. Aside from Jason Williams, in the 16 or 17 seasons that I have really followed college basketball (I'm 26 and can remember back until I was about 10), there hasn't been a more explosive and talented player than Irving to play at Duke. He's just the best I've seen there. Outside of perhaps AI, nobody has ever had a first step like that in the college game (again, in my time watching). If you have any doubts, check out MSU at Duke from '10. If Irving wanted to score, he was going to score, and nothing could be done about it. But also keep in mind that Irving played alongside two All-American candidates in Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith that season. On a team where he was "the man," his scoring average of 17 points per would've even higher. For a team-first point guard like Irving, those numbers are damn impressive as is.

Two other names that I would include on my list are Stephon Marbury and Eddie Griffin. People overlook Griffin because of how big a bust he was in the League, but he dominated the Big East in his lone year at Seton Hall.
