Not sure what you mean by "true PG". Right now, they have NO PG. Lack of inside? They had lack of inside scoring last year and made it to the title game. They had a GREAT PG and lived by the 3 and the perimeter. That is what got them to the title game.Azubuike24;1553314 wrote:I disagree with the "true PG." They might not have the PG play to win a title, but their lack of inside scoring AND depth is their weakness.
McGary has cost himself millions. The guy just isn't that good. He's what he showed 75% of last year. A big, lunky white guy who can't shoot and when you consider he is 21-years old and that he's MAYBE 6'8.5, he's not nearly what people were saying last March (top 10-15 pick).
I mean, LaVert and Stausksa are greatly improved. Irvin is going to be a very good player. They just simply don't have the talent on the inside. I mean, just look at the guys 6'8 and greater other top 25 teams can throw out there and UM has no chance in a traditional game.

Walton is a true Freshman and Albrecht is good enough to spell them for 10-15 minutes a night. Stauskas can run a little point when needed.centralbucksfan;1553333 wrote:Not sure what you mean by "true PG". Right now, they have NO PG. Lack of inside? They'll need Walton to develop over the course of the year. Yes, like you said Albrecht is good for 10-15 minutes a night. He's good on offense but terrible on defense. He can't guard the other teams PG.Azubuike24;1553336 wrote:Walton is a true Freshman and Albrecht is good enough to spell them for 10-15 minutes a night. Stauskas can run a little point when needed.

Michigan State, while without Garry Harris and Tom Izzo (until he starts coaching around mid-January or so), is locked in a tight one with Oakland right now.

UK/ UNC game is just ugly! No flow. UK is loaded with athletes. Not sure about how many pure basketball players they have.

Getting crushed on fouls too.
Five players with 2, three of them within 8 minutes.

I am very surprised that Kentucky got into foul trouble in the first half at the Dean Dome... Willie Cauley-Stein with 3 already. His presence on the court is the difference between a Cat win or loss.

It's like watching the 2010 game all over again. I'm turning it off.

Kentucky's guards are getting to the rim any time they want. I really like Andrew Harrison's game. Great attacker.

They have attacked big time to draw a lot of UNC hacks inside. Still, some bad turnovers. UNC taking advantage of some ugly passes.
Randle and Young have done nothing at all from the field, so this one isn't close to over. Still some UK bullets left...

Yeah, those errant passes out front have really killed UK. At this point, with how close it's been, it's the difference in the game. If that area of their game had been cleaned up earlier, the Wildcats are easily winning this game. UNC has scored at least three or four times off blatantly telegraphed passes around the perimeter.Azubuike24;1553381 wrote:They have attacked big time to draw a lot of UNC hacks inside. Why bother having a 3 man booth when one of the 3 is Dick Vitale?

Dick Vitale is so awful. Give it up, man. You might as well be dead, because you are to all of us.
He can't even remember how to say names that he has been repeating all game long. At this point, he is embarrassing Dick Vitale.

Hard to watch games played at that arena (admittedly, as I'm sure others feel about games at Duke), but I thought Kentucky, aside from the mental errors with the turnovers and missed free-throws, was the superior team. Like 2010, if they meet again in the tournament, the Tar Heels will be going home.

52 fouls and counting. Just painful to watch.

Two average teams at this point in the year. UK looked like they had the better individuals, but it didn't translate. Too many missed free throws still, and the refs were bad on both ends. (Obviously I think a little worse for the Cats.)

Anybody enjoy watching UK/Cal lose as much as me?
That team, although very talented athletically, has a LONG way to go. They lack "something". But still early in season. Long ways to go.

Cincinnati's offense is just abysmal. Typical Mick Cronin team.

And Xavier is not a great team. They've struggled a lot this year.
That 26-11 season a couple of years ago under Mick Cronin is as good as it will ever get under his direction. Cincinnati is historically a great program and was a national power in the hunt for NCAA titles virtually every year in the '90s and early '00s. There's no reason for it to be a complete afterthought, like it is today. Cincy can do better than averaging 20 to 22 wins a year and losing in the first or second round. I think it can return to being a consistent Top 25 team competing for Final Fours annually, with the right guy. The dissolution of the Big East hurts but, like Memphis and UConn who are in the same spot conference-wise, it's still a prominent basketball program that can win championships.

Stauskas is an offensive weapon, but plays zero defense, and has to learn to give up the rock. IMO, this is why Burke was so valuable-he could score, he could pass, he could lead...and he is also the reason I agree that McGary should've left after last season.
