I do too. I just had to give you shit when you said how well they were playing because of 1 game, when, the previous 5 saw 4 "bad games" from them without Ashley.

I saw bad games in retrospect to how they were playing all season prior. They arent really worrisome, as you say. But Arizona definitely took a step back since the injury and it shows. We will see if tonight is a springboard or if they struggle again...

Yeah, Arizona clearly lost a step or two after the injury. And I was probably getting ahead of myself by saying they had "regained form" tonight. It's a process and they are making good progress.

But I disagree that losing close games to Cal and ASU on the road and winning at Utah in OT constitute bad performances. Even with Ashley, similar outcomes could have been expected. Cal and ASU are NCAA teams and Utah is a hard place to net a win. The Oregon game at home, though, was not good.

We were much more aggressive tonight in attacking the rim and dishing, as opposed to the passive passing around the perimeter offense we had the previous 4 games. Plus we finally got some shots to fall tonight, and it helps when you shoot 81% in the second half before pulling the starters.

I'm still concerned about the offense and free throw shooting, but our defense will help keep us in games in the tournament.

SMU wins at UConn. Now 22-6, 11-4 in the AAC, they have a chance to still win the AAC with some help. Amazing job by Larry Brown this year...

Only 1 of their top 8 scorers is a Senior.

Doug McDermott moved into the top ten all-time scoring list of college basketball with 29 points today as Creighton won for the eighth time in nine games to move to 23-4. The Bluejays are in great shape to win the Big East.

Creighton is my choice as the most consistently fun team to watch in America. McDermott and company are electrifying when the threes are falling. Ethan Wragge hit a couple of long balls today from close to 10 feet behind the arc. This team reminds me a lot of 2001-02 Gonzaga with Blake Stepp and Dan Dickau, who were virtually unguardable from three.

Brown is a great coach. Only coach to win an NCAA championship as well as an NBA title.

If Self wins two more titles to get to three, he's in that five greatest coaches ever discussion. So he's got some work to do before he gets there, but he's already one of the best of his generation, if not the best. Ten titles in a row is remarkable.

Uh, easy on the greatest ever. Generation, yes. He has a LONG way to go to get into that discussion. Not a knock, but way to early to discuss. The conference thing is great, but it also speaks of the Big12 IMO as well. Similar to Big10 football. Roy Williams also won 9 conference titles (big8/12). So this dates back to early 90's with KU. There really isn't another program with the tradition/history that can compete with KU in this conference. Please don't turn this into me knocking KU. Its not. But in this day and age, when one team dominates a conference like this, there is a combination of things. One being KU being really good.

Depends how we're defining "greatest?"

IMO, the sport from the late 90's and beyond is completely different than even the 70's and 80's. Guys like Wooden and Rupp dominated their eras, but it's not even fair to compare the sport back then to what it is now. It's like trying to downgrade a QB from the 80's who was clearly an all-time great and state he's average because half the QB's in the NFL throw for 30 TD's and 4000 yards a season. It's a different sport. There are a few bridge guys like Bob Knight and Coach K, who spanned both eras (K moreso than Knight), but I do somewhat agree with Rec here.

College basketball today has more parity than ever. While the overall talent is spread more thin because there are now 350+ D-I teams and rarely do top players stay beyond a year or two, it's a much, much tougher sport to maintain an elite level program consistently.

The big 12 this year is the best conference, and ku clinched a share with 2 weeks left in the season.

The big 12 is not always the best conference, but it's not like the conference is historically bad in the last decade.

The big 12 is really overrated this year. It might be the deepest - even that is highly debatable in my opinion - but really its Kansas and a bunch of decent teams. Iowa State is the only other team I could see going past the sweet 16, and even that would be a big surprise.



Self is great though. I don't think there's a coach in the country I would take over him.

Iowa state is more than good. Oklahoma state could make a deep run too. It's not like there's a 1b. Big 12 is far and away the deepest and best conference in the country.

The big 12 is rated as the best conference in the country. If you think the conference is overrated, that means you think there is a better conference. Which one?

Don't most conferences have 1 really good team and a good amount of good teams?

I would take teams 2-5 in the ACC and B1G over the Big 12 without question.

Syracuse, Duke, UNC, Pitt
Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State
Iowa State, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State

One of those 3 is clearly weaker than the others in my opinion. It's depth comes from the next tier (WVU, Baylor, Oklahoma State) being better than what other conferences have in the 6-8 spots, but none of them are on Kansas' level.

Is Oklahoma State even a tournament team? They'll be sub .500 in conference if they don't win out ( vs. Kansas, KSU, and @ Iowa State). Losing 8 of 9 games will kill a teams resume.

Virginia may be first, but they're not the best team in the ACC. Syracuse is.

I see a lot of overrated teams in that big ten list. I see a lot of underrated teams on that big 12 list.

While the ACC and Big Ten both have solid arguments, I agree with you that the Big XII has been the best conference in the country in terms of depth. The ACC and Big Ten each has a better crop of teams at the top, however.

Aside from Kansas, Iowa State is the only other Final Four caliber team. Oklahoma State and Baylor were both touted as that heading into the year, but, due to poor coaching and just an overall lackluster year, neither has come remotely close to those early expectations. The Cowboys will likely need to win at least two of their final three regular-season games to even have a chance at getting into the NCAAs, and that will be a tall task with games against Kansas, Kansas State and @Iowa State looming. That or win the Big XII tournament.

Syracuse is not the best team in the ACC. Have you seen them play the past four weeks? This is a first or second round NCAA loss waiting to happen.
