This isn't an OC commandment, but there only needs to be one and if everyone followed it we'd be golden.

1. Thou shall not initiate force against another.

Done.

I thought this would actually get some decent responses, on what people thought should be a set of rules by which to live.

1. Don't kill, unless in protection from harm of oneself or family.
2. Don't steal
3. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (Respect)
4. Don't rape.
5. Don't commit adultery.
6. Don't lie, unless in protection from harm of oneself or family.
7. Respect oneself

All I can come up with so far.

Die in shame and be one of those virgins.

Apparently obstruction of justice is ok with you and possibly being an accessory to a crime...good to know.

I was thinking more in the lines of being assaulted, etc. So I guess I'd add this:

8. Obey the laws set forth by your governing body.

Personally, I think it's sad that people need a set of commandments to know how they should act in life.

...and even sadder yet that people think some type of organized religion (cults) establishes these commandments and expects their followers (sheep) to live by them. Comical actually.

Not really. Regardless if we "need" them, they are in the minds of everyone. It's called morality.

Right, that's my point. No one has to show me a list for me to know these things. I was speaking more to the religious side of it.

...just the religious right?

"...While non-religious socialists sometimes find support for socialism in the Gospels (for example Mikhail Gorbachev citing Jesus as “the first socialist”), The Christian Left does not find that socialism alone is an adequate end or means. Christian faith is the core of their belief which in turn demands social justice. ..."

Or that these 10 are inherently perfect and need posted everywhere because of the book they are written in.

The first four are nothing more than demands that people are 100% adherent to their religion, in essence. Which takes precedence over informing them that killing and stealing are bad, mmkay? A waste of space and, if anything, support my line of thinking that all of this stuff is man-made and not any word of any god.

Well, unless you're of the opinion that your supposedly perfect deity is really a petty, jealous bitch who feels it necessary to command people four times to obey it first and foremost, not worship other idols, etc. before being like, "Oh...yeah, also don't kill, steal, cheat on your spouse and a couple other things...c-ya!"
