I just hope Marc Loving can become the player everyone thinks he will at OSU. A lot of comparisons to Otto Porter

As for Thomas, the main reason I think he goes is that he needs money. Had a horrible upbringing (horrible is probably too strong, but it was not privileged and it was fatherless.). Plus, he has a kid of his own to feed

Well Clark Kellogg said the voting is still on going...

I hope Ross becomes the player everyone thinks he will at OSU. If Ross played defense like Ravenel, he'd be a top 10 player in the NCAA.

To be honest, I know for sure All-American voting was done already and I assumed the other stuff was as well. But that isn't the case, I guess, if Special K says its not done.

Kind of dumb, IMO, to base an award like that off of the postseason...and waiting will almost assuredly have some effect on voters opinions.

I think Thomas is gone as well, but if he comes back he could be the leading scorer in Ohio State history and Ohio State would be daaaaaamn good next year. He'd be my all-time favorite Buckeye if he stayed another year as well, but the dude is gone, he needs to get paid.

I'd say 90% gone. His foot isn't out the door, but the car is running and his bags are packed.

Preseason #2 most likely if Thomas would stay. With that said, he's gone.

I agree. Maybe #3 to Duke but no worse than #3. Even if he leaves I think Ohio State should be top 10-15.

I think Thomas would be foolish to stay. This year's draft sucks, so he will more than likely go higher this year than next

Back to tournament talk...

Apparently Miami center Reggie Johnson will not be traveling with the team to D.C. this week. Not a huge lose for the Canes since his role has becoming less and less but still worth noting.

Most of the draft boards have Thomas projected as a second-round pick in 2013. If he comes back and has an even better senior campaign on a front-running national title contender, I fail to see how his stock wouldn't be higher next summer.

Not sure with Ross and Thompson coming on that Thomas will be as much of the man next year.

That's a good point. Thompson is going to be a player. I still think that Thomas could come back, show a more diverse game (perhaps by working on his ability to get others involved) and vie for a first round selection next year. But if there were ever a year to go, this is it. It's an historically weak draft, as has been pointed out here many times.

In NCAA Tournament news, for those who are leaning heavily on Miami for their bracket success, bad news. Reports are that Reggie Johnson has had surgery on his meniscus and will not be making the trip to D.C. for the regionals. Edge Indiana and Syracuse. Hell, maybe even Marquette.

Thomas could lead the country in scoring. It doesn't matter. He'll be a 23-year old small forward (when his first NBA campaign starts), who IMO, has limitations athletically when he gets to the NBA as a 3. His stock isn't rising.

The best bet for OSU fans is that Thomas enjoys college and getting 1 more run with OSU more than he does wanting to get that $$$ a bit quicker. At this point, his stock is irrelevant.

He won't be getting that much money, maybe even none if he doesn't make a team as a second round pick (they do not get guaranteed contracts). His draft status won't be worse after another year, and won't be better either.

Agreed. Which makes the debate on whether he goes pro absolutely irrelevant of his draft stock. It boils down to which draft he will be facing lesser competition at his position. That's 2013, not 2014. His individual stock and potential won't change one bit from today to a year from now. For argument's sake...say he grades a 6 out of 10.

That 6 out of 10 might rank him top 30 this year.

That 6 out of 10 might rank him top 50 next year.

Is the extra year of enjoying school, making an NCAA run and chasing a title at OSU worth the fall in the draft? If so, he comes back, which definitely has some merit.

I know most student athletes don't go to school for the degree. But I wonder if someone is in his ear saying, look if you're going to be a middle to late second rounder with no guaranteed money, why not stay at osu maybe chase a title and get your degree so you have it.

I VERY seriously doubt that education will play into his decison AT ALL. But who knows. Either way I think hes going to play in the d league or in Europe. He will need to get stronger to play the 3 in the nba. Then again maybe his shooting in space does enough to get him on a roster. I literally have no idea what his future will look like.

Don't forget that Deshaun has a young child to take care of as well. I fully expect him to turn pro, but if he stays, he'll still have a 2nd round grade, and if that doesn't work out, he'll make a nice career and get paid nicely in Europe.

That opening segment tonight was painful. No chemistry at all between Anthony, Gottlieb, Kenny, and Charles. Kenny and Charles didn't shut up the entire time, kept shouting over the other guys. And Gottlieb made a really awkward joke about only being there to add a little diversity as the only white guy that didn't land. At all.
