It sucks for sure. You're in a good situation as you have a job though. Really helps with confidence in interviews in my experience.

Agreed, less pressure of failure since you know in the back of your head you at least have a paying job as a fallback.

Definitely plan to. I am actually lucky in that my mom, stepdad and brother are very good in that area.

I hope this is the case.

Agreed. It's easier to get a job when you already have a job, in my experience.

Seems like the logical step after the vasectomy. Just the next step to becoming a full on tranny lol.

It would probably make me more "qualified" since there are probably plenty of mid-20's, white males applying to jobs.

Good luck to those job hunting.

This is the first time I actually have a full-time job, and I am so relieved. I never knew how it felt. I hate the inconsistency and unknown when job hunting. I've tweaked my resume so many times and applied at many places over the last 5 years.

I, like so many others, haven't had much luck in getting ANY feedback or callbacks. In the few times I've interviewed, I was able to get 4 jobs (I think that's the number). Not once did I ever get any feedback on why I wasn't a candidate -- just the typical "thanks but no thanks." I hope to be more professional than that when I have candidates I have to hire. I do understand it is time consuming and such, but it's the least I can do for a person when they are searching. I guess, I'll just treat them like I wish I had been treated. It doesn't take much to have a couple of "templates" to send to certain people that explain why a person was not considered.

I imagine I'll give a good 3-4 years at this position then possibly evaluate where things are at there. It could be more, but I'd rather not be in Kansas for too long. I just want to give my employers more continuity than they've had in the past.

If you really must know, I chose my company over E&Y (only big 4 offer, yeah I suck:cry:) because they are consistently ranked as a better workplace than most Big 4 firms and provide just as many career opportunities. Also have first hand knowledge that the E&Y locations in Akron and Cleveland are a terrible place to work. I have plenty of experience working long and stressful hours.

I think you made a good pick of not going big 4, because working a couple 100 weeks in a row will really make you hate your life. But... There aren't "just as many career opportunities". There are companies and recruiters that look at solely big 4 employees. And of course EY is terrible, big 4 understaffs and overworks because there will always be an unlimited supply of college grads. Turnover is enormous.

This. Big 4 sucks and has terrible turnover, but there's a huge difference in exit options between the big 4 and whatever regional shop you're going to.

Not being big 4 doesnt necessarily equal regional firm.

Admittedly, I didnt know what icl stated, but the company I chose provides me with all of the career opportunities that I may want (top experience, advancement, relocation options, option to work abroad, even career change options within the firm).

Yeah a lot of people are pretty optimistic about their first job. You'll hate it in 8 months.

This. On a side note I got an interview tomorrow for coca cola. I'm hoping to get it. Would be a big boost in pay and would be closer and more stable company.

Maybe there's a difference in terminology, but the common parlance that I've heard is that you have the big 4,and then you have the "regional firms", even if some of those regional firms aren't just in one region.

Regardless, GT is a good shop, but there's certainly a marked difference in exit options between the big 4 and everyone else.

I've yet to know an auditor who (1) stayed more than 4 years, or (2) didn't gain 20 lbs. Good luck, though--public accounting is good experience and tends to open a lot of doors.

How did the interview go?

Our systems guy at work is leaving and they're piling all of his work onto me and not replacing him. I have to get out of there ASAP.

Won't find out for a few more weeks. I'm actually kind of leaning against it after the interview. Seems like too much bullshit I really don't want to deal with. I applied at a couple more places I'm kind if hoping for Pitt-Ohio to call me
