Typically from my experience in interviews we just lol at how hard OSU tries to be the best academic institution in Ohio and then they end up offering me a position 2-3 steps up the hierarchy.

That's nice, but Miami isn't pulling the best of the best talent from Ohio. It just pulls in the rich kids with their daddies credit card. I, and anyone in reality, will pass. :thumbup:

Would Miami be better off accepting transfers from community colleges or regional campuses like OSU? LOL

Miami doesn't have the demand that Ohio State has. No one wants to transfer into Miami when you can go to a far superior school for lower cost. :thumbup:

Funny considering Miami costs less to go to. Your argument is a fail all the way around.

Edit: OSU cost more when I was looking into going to school. Now looks like Miami is about 3k more a yr. Well worth it for a better education. More of your money goes to your education and top under grad programs vs sports and grad programs like at OSU. All around a great bargain.

OSU admitted anyone that knew how to wipe their ass until the early 2000s when they finally started to raise their standards and now they all of a sudden think they are a top academic institution. LOL

Just for the record I know plenty of people who transferred from Miami to OSU, because Miami was too tough for them. Hell, id probably do the same thing if I wanted to take the easy way out.

Miami could never attract the talent that Ohio State gets. Ohio State is a global brand that acquires talent from all over the world. Miami is a hasbeen who relies on generations of daddies credit card to be "successful". I'll take vicious hardworking global talent that Ohio State garners over the rich entitled brats with daddies' credit card over at Miami. :thumbup:

Yet miamis undergrad is still ranked higher and they are the too ranked public university in Ohio. Keep juking out the facts though.

Occupationally, being single and having the ability to move has its advantages. Supporting one person with one income is simpler and easier to manage than supporting two people with two incomes. Less coordination of a budget is necessary.

As for the best business school, per the two people I know responsible for hiring at their respective companies (take that for what it's worth ... small sample), they've begun looking more at experience than diplomas, so if you have the right experience, that Criminology degree may not be a hindrance. The person recently hired to my team at work was chosen over a candidate who had an MBA because of the weak work resume. The person hired had a job in the corporate offices of an orthopedic manufacturing company while they were getting their degree in a field that is completely unrelated (and impractical, in my opinion).

Granted, I don't think it HURTS to have a degree that is more closely linked to your field, but one can do without it, provided that you at least have SOME degree from an accredited school and can show that you were either actively employed during your tenure as a student or were in some other way exceptional compared to the average student who goes to school for 4-5 years doing the bare minimum (extra-curricularly) to graduate. This is all, of course, provided that you don't have a resume since then that stands on its own.

Why would I compare microcosms of a university? I'm talking overall, the only relevant number. Honestly, Ohio State and Miami aren't even in the same breath; we should be comparing Ohio State with other B1G institutions like Northwestern, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin as well as strong academic powerhouses like Vanderbilt, Virginia and Stanford. Miami? LOL. Who? :laugh:

You're right, size of the university and class size says everything about a university. That's why great schools like Harvard and Yale admit 60k students a yr....lolfail :thumbup:
