There's a different rule as well about where to spot the ball if your kind tiptoeing the sideline vs coming across toward the sideline

Ball was snapped at the 37, Newton retreated to the 18 while breaking tackles and ankles and then ran to the Patriots 49.
Only credited with a 14 yard run but they tracked him running 76 yards on that play. Looked like an athletic 5th grader playing against kindergarten kids.
