Some of you need to know that the military, like firefighters and police officers, have ALREADY lower standards for training for women.

This will only get worse now in the military.

Look up the calisthenics requirement differences that already exist.

Women don't have to carry the same weight in their sacks during training runs, and the list goes on.

I have ZERO problem with this IF the standards were the same. However, they are already different and will get worse.

I do understand that, and it's not right.

Sure....we know that women doing "some" combat jobs like having to carry 100 pounds of 50 cal ammo through a war zone while getting shot at and having mens lives relying on her to get them the ammo before they are overrun and killed is probably likely to happen and when it does it will be sad that she was pushed into that position cause they lowered the physical requirements to get her there.

But what about the mental part? What about some women that hesitates in a fire fight? Women are not mentally the same either. You cannot bring those emotions to the table when it comes to killing people.
What about men that hesitate in a fire fight. You act like men are automatically good at war and women are not. This is not true.

Ok, now we are some common ground. I agree women should not have lower standards. However, if women can meet the regular standard, they should be able to fight.

I agree with that, however they already have a different standard to be in the army. I'm sure that will not change here.

Not just the women but the men. Men have an innate sense to protect women. The whole "women and children first" mentality. Will it have an effect on men's judgment in battle? That most certainly would have to be overcome.

Firefighters and police are one thing but militaries are not into weakening themselves. Like I said in this case its just politics. If you look at militaries around the world that have had this in place for some time, say Isreal or France. When Israeli troops invade Gaza or Lebanon how many women do you see? How many women killed/captured? How many French women do you think are on the front lines in Mali today?

When this is fully implemented in three years should not all 18 year old females be required to file for selective service?

No. Men are not mentally weak in combat.

Absolutely not. Women only want equality when it benefits them.

I disagree. To me it would depend in the individual. I served with women who I'd trust over some men.

18+ year old adult women? Yep. How is that different than forcing 18+ year old adult men into service?

And nobody is being forced in to anything by registering. You can talk about them forcing people when they actually use the draft again.

True. The Draft has been gone since the 70's. How many people even remember the draft. Heck I was in grade school.

I am not an advocate of conscription. I will serve myself before I vote to force a young teenage girl or boy to serve in my stead. Wouldn't you?

They are not adults under according to the government until they can purchase an adult beverage. Boggles my mind that a government can send kids to war who they deem too immature to consume alcohol yet mature enough to handle some of the most deadly weapons. Mature enough to blow another human beings brains out. Mature enough to mentally to deal with that.

Lol. Buying alcohol means you're an adult? No. You're a legal adult at the age of 18.

Nobody is voting a woman to war. You think bringing back the draft will be voted on?? Again, nobody is being forced to do anything. Your whole argument is invalid for that reason alone.

I get what you're saying, but again, nobody is being forced to do a thing.

Depends, do you want to win or not? Bunch of young able-bodied men, or beer-bellied has beens in their 30s and 40s. :p

Not adults? Yet someone under 18 can commit a crime and be tried as an adult. I could be trained with a weapon at 18 when I was in the military and could drink at 18 in South Korea, drink at 19 in Ohio, and have to wait to drink until I was 21 in Utah. So at what age was I an adult?
