Ok, OK, OK. I too loath Triway and those of you who know me understand me and why. With that said all this kind of stuff just adds to the hunger to put one on em when we play them in anything. I NEVER had anything good to say about the purple people, BUT at then end of the day "who cares" about sums it up. I will never let the actions of a 15 to 17 year old kid be used as a moral berometer for anyone. BUT if a coach from Triway had seen or heard this young man and not said something that would be issue for concern. (we would usually see the Triway and Wooster kids pretty regularly cruising around, what do you think meetings on Tanerville road were for back then)?
I think tonight is going to be a HUGE measuring stick to see where this team is mentally physically and emotionally! Talk is over time to put in some work!!!
Go Red!

WAY TO GO RED RIDERS!!
Big win! This was a great win and the kids are playing with confidence. Kids gutted it out! Great effort and if I am passing out a player of the game it goes to the entire team! Played hard, physical football and made some HUGE plays!
I believe I said we could start 4-0 and others questioned that... Well...3-0 baby!
...and I found this

This isn't following the script. We were supposed to be down again...because of low numbers or something, right? We were supposed to flounder around in the spread because our coach is stubborn & can't recognize talent, right? We were supposed to go 2-8, right?Old Rider;1500079 wrote:Huh??? listen I will be the first to say overall coach has had a good gameplan this year with running the football however I do have to point out some flaws: last week against Triway with the clock running late in the game we snapped the ball with more then 10 seconds left on the play clock quite a few times- Why? Who is not seeing that? Last nite NW could not stop the run and we had all the momentum in the world and we decide to stop running late in the 1st half and throw the ball getting an interception and an easy NW touchdown. Worst case scenario we run the clock out and go into the locker room up 21-8. Best case scenario we score again and pretty much put the game out of reach still in the 1st half. Then the field goal last night. If we don't get that delay of game penalty that field goal is made and he game is over. How is there a delay of game on a field goal? That is on the coaches.RedRider1;1500091 wrote:This isn't following the script. We were supposed to be down again...because of low numbers or something, right? I guess that's as close as we get to an all out compliment Nation. We will take it. I'm kind of out of the loop a bit but sure am proud of this team and staff. Still a long season and health is important, but they sure should earn the kudos from the Chatter faithful. Hmmmm seems there are some posters who have nothing to say following a little success. Hmmmmmm those posters sure fill the pages with their opinion when things don't look so good. Funny how life goes. Same disciplined coach asking the same behavior from his players. Oh we r winning with the stockpile of D1 talent he has at his fingertips I am sure.

Nobody said it would not be brutal, but series bashed the coaching staff for not making any changes...so where is he to give credit where do? I never said the team will be undefeated but the goal is to get to the playoffs. They are working on that.

Win on turf...but they were no good
Beat Triway...but they were no good
Beat Northwest...but they were no good.
Lex got smoked last night..I'm sure if we beat them and I've heard they're down too, I'm sure if we beat them, it was because they were no good too.
Senior, West Holmes & Ashland will be no treat. But a 4-0 start will put us in a good place going into that stretch.

All I am saying is lets not get carried away here. I am excited too and I definitely think last year was motivation for these boys to work harder. However I keep hearing playoffs being brought up in Week 3. We have a long road ahead of us to even make mention of that word. We have beat 3 teams with a combined record of 2-7. Maybe you can conjur up some sort of stat that differs from that but I equate that to 3 teams that arent very good. Positive things happening for Orrville but hopefully you can agree there is a lot to improve upon. Our tackling last nite was less than stellar and our kickoff coverage is questionable.RedRider1;1500171 wrote:Love how the bar keeps getting moved.

These kids better be looking at each week, so I agree we don't want to get ahead of ourself. The chip on the shoulder has to stay there. Improvement is always needed, but they have done all they could do this year so far. Continue to win and it will all work out.Red Rider Nation;1500176 wrote:All I am saying is lets not get carried away here. it's going to be brutal weeks 4 through 10 for you guys lex is probably as good or better then anyone you guys have played. They got rocked by a Olentangy team that would have beat you guys the same way. Week 9 will be brutal clearfork isn't down this year they look good there only loss to an very good ontario team that kept right with norwayne. Then wooster they have lost to 3 teams with a combined record of 9-1 and they were in 2 of the 3 games

I liked how he defended Clearfork's quality. Their only loss was with a team who hung with (still lost to) Norwayne.
In all seriousness, that's flawed logic, but I still thought it was good for stirring the pot.

post #1045 by rrfan; "series where you at...what nothing to say?"
I've decided not to attend too many games, here, or elsewhere for that matter, although I did attend the first half of the NW game.
Someone said on another thread, you've beaten teams with a combined 2-7 record, for that you should be truly stoked, after all, John Marshall is a "truly tough" D2 school. Beating Triway who still can't stop the run...it's obvious the other coaches taught Davault to trust the freshman and sophomores and how to call run play that have thus far proved successful. In that case, Orrville is blessed to not have enough players to field a freshman team. NW, that school in my opinion is closely equal to Orrville, hence the games are either close or one team tends to dominate the other.
You guys are beginning to "crow" as if you've played and defeated some real powerhouses. I haven't said much as perhaps there's not a much to say without being "attacked" by knuckleheads like yourself for expressing the truth.
Perhaps you shouldn't attempt to have so much to say.
Orrville is 3-0. Good job!
