That's it! The Chippewa ! Way before my time! Thanks

Before my time also! Some of Orrville's greatest teams played in the Chipp Conf!

Rider Dad what would you like to see as the offense? I am not being smart...just curious what others want to see.

My guess is that Bryce Short will start at QB and if that is the case, I would like to see us run the ball...ALOT. Im not saying Bryce doesn't have the arm, but with his running ability along with Dyson, Robinson, Zook, and Palmer...I see no need to throw the ball. Our receiving corp is not deep, but I think Chandler Smith and Kyle Ritchie give us a great short passing game option as well as Zook out of the backfield.

And with all of that being said...we will need to find an O-line because as Mo Tipton once said... "You can have all the thoroughbreds you want, but if you don't have the big horses to open the gates, what good is it!"...."NO LINE, NO GOOD"!!

I heard there is a chance that Bryce transfers, anybody else hear this? If he is gone would that make Luke Smith the QB?

Haven't heard that, but if he does by default it would be Smith.

Where is he rumored to be xferring to? Dad coaches at McK right...would it be there?

I hope that is not the case, but when your current school is having trouble passing a levy and the football team has less than desirable expectations...why not?

I think Luke will push Bryce for the starting QB position regardless, but Bryce has the varsity experience and he is our best returning defensive back/safety as well.

I haven't heard anything about Bryce, but I have heard that Kayronn Robinson will be moving to Massillon within the next few weeks.

I only attended a few games this past season, but I didn't really see these two potential transfers display the talent and ability that would be needed to play at McKinley and Massillon. I can't imagine that either one would have a big role at those schools this season.

rrfan I would have to agree with old rider, I think we will have to run the ball a lot more than in the past, I really don't care what set we do that out of, as long as we run more than in the past, my son said short is working hard passing so hopefully that pays off, in a passing game, we do know the kid can run the ball, but that makes me nervous because of injuries. There is a good core of kids in the weight room so that should help, but I hope our offensive line can open some holes, there are some questions that I don't think will get answered until we start playing, with Kick on the mend from shoulder surgery ( should be back) you might have one starting linemen returning.

...What division/region will Orrville be in for the 2013 season?
Sorry haven't kept up on who's in what division with the changes the OHSAA has made recently.

We really didn't get to see them that much because the coaching insisted on attempting to pass and with Lichti at qb. Whether they are "factors" should they transfer remains to be seen, however, staying here isn't a guarantee to play or be factor either.

State hasn't announced that for any school yet. Likely dropping down to D-5 with the state going to 7 divisions for football. I think they vote in May so we should know more then.

...Orrville has always had a great program and solid football tradition and to drop a division...IMO, provides a great opportunity to add another state title.

Best of luck to the Red Riders in 2013

Thanks Cards! We had a down season last year (actually it was our worst season since the early 70's) and this season may not be much better. We have very small numbers in terms of participation and that hasn't helped either. Sadly, Orrville doesn't have many of the blue collar jobs that were here 30 years ago and when those jobs left so did the blue collar families with the blue collar type of athletes...

Good stuff on here. I am very worried about the Line. Who is going to be there and who is working hard.

I don't see Bryce transfering. Just remember it is easier to pass protect as an undersized line than to move guys out of the way and create lanes to run through...

...I feel your pain my friend. The Cards had a 3 win season last year (very tough schedule) but there just wasn't the work ethic as I've seen from other Mooney teams in the past (both coaches & players). I'm not sure what to think about the 2013 Cardinals but we may see ANOTHER 3 & 7 season if someone doesn't get a little fire in their belly if you know what I mean!

I agree about the line. However, lately the line situation really hasn't been about being undersized/oversized, we simply just don't have kids that know what the heII their doing! I watched some film with my brother a few times last year and it was sad how many missed blocking assignments we had even into week 7-8-9-10. I am also not a fan of the "zone" blocking scheme we use. It does nothing to create blocking angles because we dont cut block, reach, and rarely do we pull or trap...thats what a running game is built on and we don't do it!

Bryce isn't transferring from what I'm hearing.

And yes..can't have an effective run game with a zone blocking scheme.

What's different in reference to blue collar jobs now then 30 years ago in Orrville? What is not there now that was there 30 years ago other then Seifrieds, Reynolds, and Johnson Hardware and Orr Twin Cinema? Smuckers has grown in size and created many factory jobs as well as white collar jobs over the years. The industrial places are still there and perhaps even more of them with the addition of Orrvillon
