Of course I read the column. That's why I posted. Thamel should be fired. He tried to cover up an embarrassing inability to even do a bit of investigative journalism and figure out that a woman:
1) Graduated from Stanford (not sure what year)
2) Was hit by a drunk driver
3) Died from leukemia
And wasn't even mentioned in a Stanford University student newspaper, because he checked Lexis Nexis and didn't find an article?
This is the dumbest piece of journalism ever IMO. How in the world in 2012 can you not even find a Facebook, Twitter, whatever about a Stanford graduate and think "ok, that's normal"?
Sports Illustrated should be ashamed. I think of all of the people involved Te'o is the least culpable. He may have been duped, but our media can't do a single 3 second google search?
