That from people being modded. That's quite obviously different than this situation. Strong fellowship is what keeps a forum alive. No one likes the mods on any forum, its basically an ignorable complaint to an extent. Bad fellowship will destroy a forum.

Who cares what the default setting is? How hard is it to put your little finger on the "forums" tab instead of "latest". You don't have to see the posts in a particular forum if you don't want to. Quit being ridiculous.

Oh I see, so you won't see anything else at all while switching it. You are the one saying that you will never ever see anything in the basement if you don't go there is just not true. That also does nothing to address the bad fellowship on this forum that spills out into all subforums, not just the basement.

I don't disagree with you, but the basement forum was put in place for anything goes. It was said that it would not be moderated except for 3 simple things, porn, gore, revealing identities. There has been absolutely zeroproblems with that forum. Now because one idiot is complaining, you want to change the rules of the forum and start moderating it beyond the original rules of the forum. Thats what I disagree with. Thats going to piss people off more than anything else.

My stance:

1. Would we have a precedent against the sort of thing Ernest is complaining about? We did mod one or both of the wonder twins for stalk-posting pics of Dynasty and his girl and dog from his FB page. In Ernest's case, it's private info he didn't disclose to anyone and from his over-the-top cryactions, he obviously didn't want it disclosed, but Snot did anyway due to RULE OF DUMBASS. But it would seem to me that letting it go would be like saying that LikeThat or CoA earned their punishment for posting the Dynasty pics...but it's cool for anyone else to constantly bring up her big nose and stuff any time they disagreed with him. Well, with the exception that Snot never got punished in the first place...because apparently Ernest didn't start complaining until everyone started doing it.

2. This is an annoying case for me, just because Ernest is the sort of annoying person who likes to take jabs, play super-dumb and so on with regularity. Seems like half or more of the time he's on, I get the idea of a guy who's bored at his job and is just looking to amuse himself by being an annoying dickwad. Like with the whole eFeud with Chiefs, which basically started (or at least escalated) because he jumped on a "fat redneck" kick. Or when he caused us to make threads auto-lock after a certain bit of time because he'd bump year-old threads just to kill time. This is sort of a grey area in a lot of ways and there's something that's just annoying about the concept of taking a stand on a grey area to protect/help someone who's an ass more often than not.

3. The good/bad fellowship concept is a good one, imo, but there's one big roadblock. We seem to have a LOT of people who are amateur lawyers here because whenever we start talking about things like rules and their enforcement in regards to grey areas and concepts (such as "fellowship), you have guys like Ernest, the Wonder Twins, etc. all jumping up and making things way difficult with their "but if they do this and I do this, that's okay, isn't it?". Damn, I remember the last time Ernest got any sort of infraction. He was all like, "Well, I agree I said something wrong and should have been modded, but if I was modded, what about this, this and this?" to where I just wanted to ban the bastard for being a bitch.

Just my thoughts which may or may not have anything to do about what seems to be a riveting discussion of Tapatalk or something like that.

I think if it was something ETB brought up himself, then let it go. However, he didn't bring it to the forum. Do we really want this to be a place where people are unwillingly harassed by others, no matter what forum it is in. Think about whether you want other people in your life drug into this shit for no reason.

I didn't realize ETB didn't bring it in. I think whoever brought it in (snot it seems like) needs an infraction and any further mention of it is modded. And if we have someone who repeatedly tries to reference it then start infracting.

If someone brings something personal to this site, that's their own fault. But there is no reason someone else should be dragging someone's personal life onto this site.
