The Royals didn't think so.

Miggy is awesome and has done some crazy things lately, but the detriot TV guys are unbearable. I literally think they'd suck him off on the field after a homer if he wanted them too.

Red Sox/Yankess

Dempster plunks Arod, benches clear....ump got screamed at...Girardi ejected.

Fight later. Sabathia or designated bullpen guy will retaliate on Ortiz or Pedroia.

And Arod retaliates by murdering a Dempster fastball over the CF wall.

Said this after his first shot against Rivera. Even on a flyout today they were saying it was incredible how he squares up every pitch or some BS. They are the worst.

Not only that, but Rod Allen has the most annoying speech pattern ever.

He's got a great slide-piece, almost as good as his change-piece but not better than his curve-piece

Kershaw is unreal. 0 or 1 earned run allowed 16 times this season. Hasn't allowed over 4 in any start, and 4 has only happened twice.

Best pitcher I have ever seen. Question is, how long can he sustain it. I'm hoping/thinking it will be a decade of dominance.

What is his contract extension going to look like?

He is down to a year and a few months from free agency, and will only be 26 years old theoretically just hitting his prime.

If they gave Greinke $160 million, what is Kershaw worth?

There's no comparable to really go off of. Pitching is starting to come back to the domination level it saw in the 60's and 80's. Kershaw's season this year is one of the best in the last half-century. Bob Gibson or Sandy Koufax-esque, without the longevity (those guys also pitched about 10-20% more innings). Still, he's looking to set modern day records in OBA, WHIP and ERA. The only guy who even approached these splits on a regular basis in the last 20 years is Pedro Martinez. His numbers from 1997-2003, averaged around a 2.20 ERA and he had 2 years (1997 and 2000) where he was at 1.90 and 1.74. In 2000, he posted a .734 WHIP for the season, which is staggering.

Maybe the greatest 2-season run EVER.

Pedro Martinez in 1999 and 2000:

41 wins
10 losses
1.84 ERA
430.1 IP
597 K
12.4 K/9
69 BB
1.44 BB/9
.0854 WHIP

That decimal point or something has to be wrong with that WHIP. Unless a lot of baserunners who scored earned runs got on by HBP, I think it would be impossible to get below 0.10 WHIP with a 1.8 ERA.

A .10 whip would equate to 1 base runner a game! Lol

The decimal is wrong, but it should be .854...

ESPN has a story up on Todd Helton right now and how he will be likely retiring at the end of the year.

Talk about the poster child for the steroid era. His first 8 years he looked like a sure fire hall of famer piling up a .337% average with 251 career homers, 951 RBI's and 1535 hits, by the age of 31.

That was at the end of the 2004 season.

In the 9 seasons since then he has completely fallen off a cliff production wise. Average has dropped to .291, only 111 homers, 549 RBI's, and 1122 hits.

PED testing really started to kick in just as his power fell off a cliff in the midst of what looked like a HOF career.

Just seems kind of an odd coincidence. The way Jerry Crasnick laid out the numbers it is pretty stark about how the drop off was.

What's the verdict? Likely juicer, or just got old quick about 10 years ago.
